88mph center console

This guy is just getting the engines broken in but estimates it should run 90mph!

It's a beautiful boat that I would love to have but that dude is day dreaming.

SLOWOUTBOARD 04-05-2016 06:56 AM

nice, but heavy slob

Nate5.0 04-05-2016 06:57 AM

Also someone might want to inform him Nor-tech has already done a 100 mph in a t-top O/B, CC.

hogie roll 04-05-2016 09:49 AM

Yeah he worked on it for a while and all of the newer 400r boats passed him by.

I wonder how fast it really is, we can figure this out.. The ad has the properller sizes, so how many rpms and what gear ratio do those V-8 Evinrudes have ? If they are 1.5 gear ratio at 5500 rpms with a 10% slip the boat would run a calculated 81 mph with the 26: Bravos turning 5500 rpm, which I think is optimistic but possible, but in 1987 when that boat was built, 81 mph was fast.

My $0.02 opinion, worthless opinion is it is an 81 mph boat. Pretty cool boat for that time frame.

hogie roll 04-05-2016 08:31 PM

He hasn't put big wheels on it yet because he was breaking the engines in. So it actually hasn't gone fast yet.

Now that's funny! 19 years later....breaking in the motors. But for $16K if the boat is decent, an offer of $10-12K would get someone alot boat. I do not want it, but someone -somewhere may. So what do you think, 79 mph? 80 mph? I am curious how fast it may actually run, an 88 mph Nodskog Speedo in 1987 might might really be an 80-81 gps speedo today.

He just restored it and built 3 450hp V8 johnson 2 strokes for it. It will get up.

No way he let's it go for that.

Around here that is a $25-$35k boat.

Wildman_grafix 04-06-2016 07:50 AM

I bet 3 V8 two strokes sound bad a$$.

Ya...after looking at the thread, the work, and all that. No way he lets is go for a penny under $30k

wannabe 04-06-2016 10:36 AM

The seller had Monty rebuild the 3 V8's and they dyno at 430 ea. 88 mph should be achievable with bigger wheels. Cool build but this guy is going to take a bath on this build.

I agree he probably spent alot, but the minimum reserve required by the seller had not been met and is-was unknown, now round two on E-Bay. This time I don't see a hidden reserve that must be met required by the seller, but here is the link for the bidding history. If he accepts the current bid at $16,100 that would be alot of boat for the money.

Interesting boat.

notda1 04-14-2016 07:26 AM

Long time ago I had a pr of them on a center console , the counter rotating lower unit on mine was always breaking . After going through several of them I gave up and went with 2 standards , that seemed to hold up pretty well .

rexcramer1 04-14-2016 10:35 PM

That thing must really smoke up the boat launch on a chilly morning

ar300johnson 04-14-2016 10:51 PM

They will really smoke but the boat will be faster than most of you realise. I had Monty build me a power head and the dyno sheet showed 400 horsepower. The Monty power head was 10 mph faster than a stock v-8. The only drawback was it really loved mass quantities of 93. This boat is a real sleeper that will really piss off somebody in in a new $250000.00 boat.

That is a very smart way to look at it. We forget to actually do the math. :)

My 2 cents. It's a fishing boat so how fast does it need to be? It is too easy to fly out of a boat like this. So speed should not be a goal .imo

It is no harder to fly out of then any other open cockpit non sit down boat.

Lol....some other you people's justification of hating things that are just not your style are fantastic.
