Is Fountain back???
I read an article that a dealer order a 38' performance boat from them for stock...I know its been a while since they have built a performance boat, but I am definitely interested to see how it comes out. Best of luck to both parties involved. It would be great for the industry to see the brand come back to life, whether you like them or not
|
Fountain never went away per say.. yes they had a couple of reorganizations corp wise but at any point and time since reggie departed, anyone could have called them and ordered a boat.. Hopefully they build a strong dealer network again and the orders start rolling in
|
How long's it been? Not 1 person has wanted a new Fountain even though they've been building them?

There is a 38 with quads I believe that r3 was posting on FB approx a month ago that is new and before that I can verify the black SVL race boat came out of the restructured Fountain.....

86 boats for sale in classified section, it would be great to see some new Fountains on the water. Hopefully they can get them moving with dealer help. It seems to be working for performance boat center they have lots for sold signs on there new Cigs listed. |
They might even finish the newly updated 29' that was promised for Fort Lauderdale boat show and then subsequently rumored for the Miami boat show. (It never made either)
As much as anyone, I'd like to see a new sports boat come from Fountain but I'd also like to go to an Elvis concert with Don Aronow. (Cynical) RR |
Oops! Guess I should have clicked the link from Drake22.250 before quoting from my wish list!
Good to see someone with the ambition to put some favorite sports boats back on the map. They also have their sights on the sister company Baja. http://www.offshoreonly.com/classifi...ho-o65264.html Full credit to Edward Champion and Big Thunder Marine, good luck guys. RR |
I'm surprised no one has built a 42. Still a very fast desirable boat.

I am very happy to see that there is starting to be a demand for these boats that we all love but I don't know that any one would want to buy a boat from Fountain now days with the lack of management and horrible costumer service from the president of the company all the way down the line. If you had any kind of warranty issues you will most likely not be taken care of. Just read this post that I started in the owners form http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/f...nt-issues.html . Just something to think about before you go and spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on a boat.

"Eddie" Ed Champion will chime in here with all the details and be able to answer your questions. He has a trip planned to the factory in NC tomorrow and i'm sure would like to hear everyone's questions and opinions!
|
well from looking at the picture,it looks like they kept the throttles on the left side where they belong.
|
Headed to the factory tomorrow, I'd love to see a 42 with 1,100's turbo motors ordered too!
I'll see what's going on, who's around and why people can't reach anyone and report back to the class. I'll grab some pictures too. |
Reggie would probably pay you cash if you managed to get a few of his trophies out of there for him...
|
Make a pit stop in the parts dept for me while your down there LOL
|
X2 on the parts dept.
|
I would think with all of the people needing service parts for their boats (we see it on OSO and elsewhere all the time), that they would have a pretty decent side business with a good service parts website with 1 or 2 responsible people running it. Even part time, they could move some parts and get the old tooling equipment back to making money instead of collecting dust. ...all the while, getting a much better word of mouth reputation than they have now. Take a looks at Lipship's parts site - can't order online, but they do list a few parts to draw some interest. I checked DonziDirect.com as they used to have a decent site for ordering parts, but it wouldn't pull up for some reason. Coincidence??
Hell, bring some summer interns in and satisfy some customers over a three month period. I love my Fountain, and would love to get another one (42 - 700/6) - but even if I had the money, I don't think I would buy a new one due to the lack of customer service and support. Just think about it needing a repair, your boat is there - and you can't get anyone to respond to it's repair status. It's sad really - seems like the company is not in touch with the market's (and their customers') needs. |
Eddie what ever happened when you visited Fountain?
|
Curious, rf3 on facebook says his mother in law is running the company and shows new boats being built, why so quiet over here?

I think when reggie left and the new owners stopped giving away a gallon of the jetblack hair dye and the MR. T junior gold chain starter set... the downward spiral started increasing velocity... rip |
With the economy still in the crapper and the great deals on newer used boats it's no wonder they haven't been selling. Thankfully we haven't lost Fountain or Donzi. I hope both can come back. I agree that it would be a damn shame to lose the Fountain brand. And to the above post ^ , it's pretty sh*tty to come on here and dis Reggie Fountain like that.
