In Hull transducer help
I have a 1989 30' Regal Velocity Steve Stepp hull and just got a Garmin 741xs. I am looking to install an in-hull transducer but not sure if my hull is a cored hull. Any ideas?
Thanks |
Cored... lol id edit your post... this is a tuff crowd up in here yo...

Call the manufacturer. Or sand a spot clean use some gum to hold it in position and test it in water you know the depth of, if it works mount it permanently...

I made the changes. Thanks.

I think most Velocity were all balsa cored. An in-hull transducer will not work right unless you cut through the first layer, grind/dig out the coring. Reglass it so that you seal the integrity of hull.
You can now epoxy the transducer housing to the hull. Make sure when you insert it you get the angle correct in regards to the vee of the hull. I would think it is around 20 degrees or so. |
Thank you for the help.
