My Personal reflection Where and what exactly I was doing that moment I learned of the Shooting down on 188 can Never Forget!

I’ll say this Mr. Aronow was very well liked by a lot of people, when we first heard the News he was shot my Cuban Glass crew started Praying for him. As for myself I was hoping he would pull through.

There were conflicting reports that day of him both alive and having passed away. Once it was learned of His Passing we knocked off work .Then the Rumors Started

The Place has never been the same without the King.

Saber, thanks for posting this. That was some very interesting reading.

I wonder what he would be up to now, had he not been killed.

TulsaLarry 09-26-2002 09:16 PM

Saber,

Thanks for the article, I have heard a lot about Don Aronow over the years but this is great insight. There are a lot of pages on the internet, if you do a search, but the real question is who is right and who is wrong. I want to believe that Aronow was a good American caught up with the wrong guys and did the moral or right thing and it cost him his life. We may never know but that is fine with me as long as I believe that he was a pioneer in performance boats.

Sometimes it is better not to know about your hero's personal life than it is to know what they accomplished.

saber when are you going to read us another boattime story

Team V 09-27-2002 07:43 AM

Boy did I hose up...
Last week amazon had a used copy of Blue Thunder for $70, and a used signed copy (Burdick) for $95. Didn't want to buck up the coin at the time.. gone. Your right Lucididee2, now cheapest copy $154. Anybody want to sell me their copy?
I'll check Crouses site.
Is that the site OSO used to have a link to? I was thinking OSO used to sell the books in the online store?
MrOffshore, I don't know.. I want to read some other versions of the story before commenting, although I do agree with TulsaLarry.
This is great stuff! I read 'King of Thunderboat Row' last weekend pretty much cover to cover with little rest. Wished I had bought the Blue Thunder at the same time.
As far as a movie, you can't make this stuff up, no doubt it would be a great movie. Look at the garbage out there that is selling now? Throw in some fast boats and cars, a couple hot babes, instant hit!

X-Rated30 09-27-2002 08:55 AM

And... Don't screw the movie up with a bunch of romance like they did "Pearl Harbor". Just cut straight to the sex with the deaf-mute secretary, and then get back to the story.:D

Boys, I think we have the makings of the perfect NC-17 movie.

TulsaLarry 09-27-2002 09:32 AM

e-bay has a couple of books that are now being auctioned:

"Blue Thunder"
Lake George Donzi Classic Club claims to be the only place with new copies of this book for $85.00 plus $5.00 shipping.

BADA BING 09-27-2002 10:49 AM

Saber,

Thanks, I have been glued to this post the past few days and thought it was very interesting:cool:

I really must express that if this were made into a movie that this would be a huge hit...fast boats, fast cars, and of course fast women, but the story itself would be more than interesting:)

Let's face it, if CRAP like Stallone's movie DRIVEN can make it to the big screen, and even make some box office dollars, I really think, if this would be done right that it would be a huge box office hit:D

Just my 02:cool:

Once again, thanks:D

Caincando1 09-27-2002 12:28 PM

I'm sure this is illegal. But then so was most of the things in the books.

With all thes books so hard to get. Couldn't someone put them on CD-ROM's and sell them. I pay 10-20 bucks for a CD-Rom. I Just want to read it I don't need an authentic copy. Just a though.

Brian

Team V 09-27-2002 12:39 PM

Thanks TulsaLarry,
Couldn't find Crouses site.
Ordered a copy from the Lake Goerge Club, hopefully a new copy.
And thank you SABER28.

TulsaLarry 09-27-2002 01:28 PM

Good to hear you guys were able to order your Blue Thunder books.

just finished blue thunder ( paid 100.00)... and its detailed accounts though outlandish some how seem plausible and totally contraditory of this article... gues im going to have to read speed kills next!!

Caincando1 12-24-2002 10:00 AM

Sunday I recieved "Blue Thunder" and "Speeed Kills" as Christmas presents. I've already read 2/3 of "Speed Kills". It hard to follow because it jumps around and involves a massive amount of name. But its very easy to read. I'm hoping to dive into "Blue Thunder" next week. " The King of thunderboat Row" is in the mail also as a gift. So unfortunatly I don't know where these books where boat. With the info Steve 1 posted I will be getting a copy of "Sea Race". Can't wait!
