Little boats are a blast!
I spent the afternoon in my little boat. It`s a 1986 Sea Ray Pachanga with the orig 260 Mercruiser. I have not had it long and was playing around with my GPS and some props I had.
With the 21 cleaver that came on it she ran 54.5 on GPS at 4600. I then installed a 21 Lazer. It now ran 58.0. Then I put a timing light on it and it was at 4* at idle. Advanced the timing to 8* and picked up .4 mph and 100 rpm`s. I then bumped it up to 10* and picked up .6 mph. Bumped it up to 12* and it was now running 59.5 at 4900! Now that I was out of the 4200-4600 range set by Merc, I installed a 13.25x23 Vector and she ran 61.6mph at 4800 rpm:D :D :D I am so impressed with this little boat, it is a blast to drive and handles fantastic and is very quiet, (weird looking stock mufflers that look like little shop vacs) I am going to install an Alpha SS tomorrow and it will be very interesting to see how fast I can get this old boat with an orig 260 small block going:eek: If they go this well with an old small block, how do they run with a decent big block? |
Let me know if your interested in selling that SS drive... :)

Travis, it belongs to a buddy, he has a pair of them and 1987 320EFI`s on an old 24 Donzi Spitfire. He blew a motor and pulled everything out to re rig for next year. He is known for not finishing things, so I`ll keep you in mind;)
I have seen them on ebay before. Kurt. |
Sweet :D :D :D

ya know . . i think if you open up the exhaust you might pick up a few mph's :D . . . . an prolly another exsesive noise ticket huh. . . .

Glassdave, funny you replied. I bought the Pachanga from Paul who stays at Whiteys camp down the river from me. Didn`t you stay there last winter?:
|
What size Pachanga is it? Speaking of little boats, I am still in the process of redoing the interior of my 20 foot Formula. Sometimes it is nice just to hook up the smaller boat and go for a spin. Easier to clean up, less fuel, and easier to launch and retrieve. The main reason I want to get mine back on the water is to pull it to farther destinations.

yea . .i was hope'n to get out there this summer but these damn people out here keep wreck'n their boats  havent had much time off. although it did alow me to buy a bigger boat :D . . we might stay up there again this new years or somthin . . lookin forward to bring'n my boat to those waters one of these summers. .

It`s a 22' Pachanga. I can`t believe a 22' boat with a cabin up front can go 61.6 GPS with a stock old small block. and I am sure there is more to be had with the SS drive:cool:
