Hydro hoist tube ?
So I moved my lift back to my dock last weekend and got a call during the week that the starboard stern tube was loosing air. I went up dropped the boat in the water and later looked at it this weekend. I noticed that the tube may have shifted and spun in and forward. Is there an easy way to fix it with out pulling it out and resting it? Any help would be grate thanks.

Also checked the valves and no leaks air is leaking from the hole in the bottom of the tube.

Only one thing will cause this to happen and that is an air leak somewhere. Check for cracks on the tube/tank and that the valve is able to close all the way.
If there is a crack in the tank it can be repaired easily. |
I had a tube rotate on me after a bad storm, with the boat off & some big ratchet straps you should be able to loosen the fasteners & get it back to where it belongs, just have to be creative

I would think it is easier to rotate the tank at near neutral buoyancy so just have enough air in to have the tank barely break the surface. Keep the up pressure to a minimum to reduce friction with the saddle, ratchet strap a pry bar or 2x4 to the tank, loosen saddle straps and rotate. You should be able to walk it fore and aft and see the 12 o'clock position on the fill connection on top, that should put the displacement holes at the 6 o'clock.
Sounds like it is an older Hydro Hoist with round (probably fiberglass) tanks or are you just saying hydro hoist as a generic and it is another manufacturer? |
It is the older round tubes. Side tie b model

I tryed to just spin it with 2 ropes one front and one back but couldn't get it. I will have to try the straps with a bord. I did loosen the bottom straps but maybe not enough in fear of loosing hardware. Thanks for the tips guys. This is why I love this site

basically that's what I did, as BM described , but while the hoist was aired up.. & mine is a side tie as well

Cool thanks

Can't wate to get up there and try it again this weekend. My boat is down in the water for now and it is killing me knowing that lol
