R&R a pair of engines - what's it worth?

I'm looking to make some extra cash on the side, a friend of a friend has an 86 Checkmate 30' that needs his motors pulled. I need to give him a ball park labor price for the following options. Boat has BB's and TRS.

Option A- Pull motors and prep them to go to engine shop.

Option B - Pull motors, once engine shop completes overhaul- reinstall and fire them up, make all adjustments.

A $1000
b $3000

My friends & I swap favors. They help me with mine and I help them with theirs. Usually done at my house with a backhoe. Out & In.

How long have they been in? Can be a major deal if they have taken root. I've had to jerk drives off with a tractor or split trans from bell housing on some salty boats when input shaft isn't ready to go.

I've always had a lot better luck taking just the long blocks to a builder. I don't tinker on cars so I don't have multiple different bases to get confused. An engine builder working on several different brands of car and boat engines usually can't keep them straight. Just in my experience.

Other than that most should would be 10-15 hours each on the r&r, and another couple per side to strip and then dress them. Time increases if there's blowers or many new parts.

They are N/A engines, and have only been in for about two years. The engine shop just wants long blocks.

Can't work for beer, my boat wont run on beer (yet)
