Thanks everybody for the responses. I'm probably going to go back with wood bunks and add extra 2X behind the steps. Carpet over everything.

I was talking with my neighbor tonight and he just did this exact same thing. He has a new 36 Yellowfin and he added PT 2x4's behind each step and carpeted over the whole deal. He did a really nice job and the boat looks to be well supported.

Thanks again for the responses. I appreciate it.

I tapered the end and cut my added step at the opposite angle so it matched up with the hull. I used trex for my steps then through bolted and carpeted.

Has anyone tried any of these plastic strips as bunks - no carpet just long pieces composite plastic in the dimensions of a 2x6-- (I'm guessing on the size)

Pro's and Con's

Thank you

I think that carpet stabilizes and cushions a lift or trailer bunk with just the right amount of friction or grip. I only tried the plastic things on a Jet Ski lift ONCE, damn things made the Ski into a 700 lb air hockey puck, slid on and off WAY TOO EASY.

Funny - I did the same thing. I built a simple jet ski ramp to keep it out of the water. Added the composite strips and the second you unleashed the ski, it was gone. You had better be paying attention or you'll be swimming after it. Made it easy to crank up onto shore though.
