Buying on E-B@Y

Guys
Seems like a thrifty boater can find some good parts at a bargin price. Have you had a good or bad experience buying there and are the parts as good of quality as the Mercury brands?

Thanks

Had cheap ebay bellows fail in less than 120 days, caught the boat sinking at the dock.

E-Bay is the same as any other online source in that you can find crap parts and quality parts, just need to research the part's brand and seller's reputation. If you buy a cheap part anywhere it is still a cheap part... I've had good luck when buying brands of known quality, heck even bought a boat on E-Bay.

Needed some male/male RCA connectors, wasted a half hour calling Best Buy, the local brick and mortar car audio shop, checked Menard's while I was there... Nothing in stock. BB and the audio shop said they could order them and they'd be in by Friday for $20. Got on eBay, took 2 minutes checking out after 30 seconds to scroll and find them from a U.S. seller, they'll be here Tuesday. $5.67. Science!

I've had mostly good results with ebay, just know the price range of the part your looking at and pay attention to their shipping cost.sometimes they will jack up the shipping to make money.i buy mercury oil and filters on there

Ebay is a great tool.
Just like any tool, you need to understand its limitations and merits and make it work for you.
I've sold over a thousand things on eBay and have funded my pantera restoration, almost exclusively, from those sales.

Buying there is a great opportunity as well.

For future reference, I've had great luck with www.monoprice.com and www.parts-express.com for those sorts of things.
