Advice On Blue Mercury Demo Prop

I'm leaning towards buying this 29p Mirage + prop. It is supposedly a Mercury demo prop and has been painted blue! Does anyone know of this practice? Why do they paint them? Is it likely otherwise unmodified? Will paint remover and power wash remove the paint? I do know and trust the seller but he has limited knowledge of this prop. Thanks.

Also, is it easy to change the hub to fit my 1 1/4" prop shaft?

These props were sent to the dealers for boaters to test for marketing / sales purpose. Test and buy kind of deal for dealers and merc to sell their brand SS props the free tesing program at your local dealer.

They are old - if I recall about 15 years ago. We had some on display thru Merc years ago at my dealership for the end user to see what worked best for their boat and loads.

IMO for you If it is real cheap thats fine but alot of those blue test props got passed around, dropped, stored in the back corner with other crapped piled on top of them for something that really sold in its place. Not saying that Merc non test props didnt sell but it was alot work because most wanted to try the blue test props for free deal only and never planned on buying anything.

really it was a way for a guy who had an aluminum prop (kind of sort the entry level boater ) -so now lets try to make him step up to a S S prop sale. Huge complete waste of time for the dealers. Nothing special about those blue props after in use for a while

Actually if my boat was something remotely nice I would not use those blue props but for a paper weight deal .

Some tried painting the props to see how much and where is blade would wear the paint for fine tuning. Check to see if that's not one of the solid hubs
