pro27 06-20-2016 03:51 PM

Great video,I'm exhausted just watching it.

TYPHOON 06-20-2016 05:11 PM

The old man still has it. That takes years of blowing $**** up to do it like that. Boy do I appreciate that talent. Great work by the team in whole.

AZMIDLYF 06-20-2016 05:20 PM

That is awesome to be able to watch what is actually happening with the controls of these offshore boats. A lot experience behind those controls in this rig.

class6 06-20-2016 05:33 PM

Awesome Ride!

mbobb 06-20-2016 06:17 PM

I think that video ought to prove a few points such as:

- Offshore racing is "easy." (Yea, right.)

- The throttle man just pastes the sticks and hangs on. (Yea right - again.)

- The driver really doesn't do all that much. (Really?)

- Short / closed course racing is easy. (Nah.)

- You really don't have to be "in shape" to participate. (Not for the first 5 minutes or so ...)

- "Old guys" can't take a beating. (But your dad used to be 6' 2".)

Great video!

Double Rigged 06-20-2016 07:49 PM

Old school racing at its best. Nice job guys.

speicher lane 06-20-2016 08:29 PM

So..... how do you take that sound track and convert it to a ringtone?
(I'd probably never answer just to hear the throttle work through the rough water..)

Nice job on the sticks....Definitely old school open cockpit racing at it's best!

boats74 06-20-2016 09:03 PM

I love watching videos like this, really gives you an idea whats going on in the boat. Great job.

jeff32 06-20-2016 09:40 PM

If i only had a better back!!! Nice video wish i was in!

jeff32 06-20-2016 10:20 PM

I remember the tread when you guys race prepped that hull... I cant remember what brand and model, i remember it was not a new boat... But your video brings me to think and ask you guys what type of hull can be used for this type of racing? Take an old bullet and go? Or a 32 fountain? Or you need some different non production boat?

Rattlesnake Jake 06-21-2016 04:46 AM

^^^^^^ It's an older Cobra, 80s vintage I believe.

TeamSaris 06-21-2016 06:47 AM

Yup. 1982 32 Cobra. Technically any boat under 40 feet can run in our class. That being said a purpose built raceboat will always have an advantage on a pleasure boat. Boats in our class range from us, a 34 Phantom, 39 Velocity, 36 Cobra, 38 Top Gun, 32 Scarab Viper, and a few others. For the most part vee bottoms in the mid 30 range

MissGeicoRacing 06-21-2016 08:01 AM

Great Video!! That's how its done

Knot 4 Me 06-21-2016 08:15 AM

So you choose one that you think is a fast hull, hoping to be right and not make the mistake to have chosen a too slow hull, right? and for lenght, off course the shorter the faster in smoother water but the longer one will have an advantage when rougher stuff... right again? No need to choose a stepped hull to be fast ?

MonkeySea2 06-21-2016 11:12 AM

awesome!! I want a ride-along!!

Sutphen hulls would be a solid option and if redoing an older one isn't your choice I saw recently that they were building them again.

There are no power restrictions in our class. Find a good handling, well built hull. Dial it in until you can run your number. If you cant, add power. Generally step hulls have a disadvantage in the turns in bracket racing.

As crazy as it sounds sometimes a longer hull is faster in smooth water !!! Extra length with steps can be more efficient with the same power. Longer is always better in big water !!!! I swear its the guy's in the boat that make the biggest difference. Many a good hull has been passed over because team that raced it were not up to the challenge. A great team can make a average hull shine IMO.

AZMIDLYF 06-22-2016 07:44 PM

This oldie would make a nice redo:
