Short windshield for fountain 42 lightning
 

My son and i purchased a used 2ooo fountain 42 lightning and have been refurbishing it for the past six months. We would like to shorten the windshield and would appreciate inputs about how to go about it. Thanks, freealfin

I would guess he will need your boat in order to fit it properly, but you guys can discuss that.

Fairing
 

i have a 2001 42' with a fairing that id like to trade for a windshield if anyone has any ideas?

Thank you so much for your input.We talked to Darin once but we could not finalize anything. Since, we have cut the windshield down gradually to about 4 inches at front one panel at the time to start and found that it was not too difficult nor did it cracked at any point but the shape was off so we stopped. What we are going to do is mount the entire windshield on the boat and mark all panels at once to final dimensions, disassemble it and then cut. Once we are done, I'll share my experience here including the bending of the upper front frames. Also, I just posted that we need new gaskets. Know of a source other than Fountain? They want almost $1000 for them Thanks

Typically, you have to lengthen the top rail at the rear.

Sorry for the delay....We are using the old frame for the mods.
