Need advise on how or what to do to make all my chrome and stainless in the boat to a black finish. What is the best application to use to get the flat black look I want. Do not a glossy black if I can help it. I alos want something that will stand up to some abuse such as my cleats ect.

I would guess a powder coat would your best bet barring any high tech (pricey) anodizing or plating systems.

I was thinking powder coat but have heard mixed results with longevity.

My frame on one of my cars was powder coated and I scraped it on the trailer pretty good and it just left some marks but didn't go through the coating. From my experience, it's pretty strong stuff and would last.

Good deal. How thick is it? I have pop up cleats and don't want it interfere with the mechanism.

I don't believe it's very thick. I just had a wood rack powder coated and it looks just the same as when I took it in. It's just tough stuff.

Powder coat is an option, but I would look at Black Oxide

We have tons of stuff powdercoated at work and the thickness usually tends to be around .050. Another option is hard anodizing it. No thickness added and the stuff is surprisingly tough!!
