About how fast were you cruising in those conditions? Just curious for my own benefit running in bumpy water, not looking to stir the pot.

This was just leaving the channel and getting out on to the big lake. We were doing 10-15... once we got up and cruising we were doing anywhere from 40-70 depending the condition at that moment.

I would likely say Fisher was near the same.

I am using ABP ad block, as someone on OSO had suggested while ago, and it get's rid of all the dumb ads.

They have nothing to prove to anyone and are not willing to risk their crews, their equipment, or the reputation/safety record of the BT event.

I am sure I will get flamed for this, but I am going to say it anyway as I disagree. What I saw of MANY(not all) of the boats turning around wasn't responsible or competent, and definitely wasn't intelligent. Go out a bit and turn around where you are out of the way.

As far as nothing to prove, I do agree with that. Especially if you have an uncomfortable passenger. And I definitely don't want to see anyone get hurt because of an ego.
BUT, people seem to have forgotten what "offshore boats" are designed to do. If you can't go out and push the sticks forward, trim it up and leave it they're not interested(again, not everyone). How about going out there, using your head and crushing some waves?

We weren't in the poker run, but we were out in Lake Michigan all day in a 28 Powerquest. We probably averaged 25-30 mph, but we were smiling the whole time! Even when we were soaking wet.

Just to add to.... Before we decided to continue on, I received a full thumbs up from the crew. They were hesitant at first (as you can tell from the commentary in the vid!) but once we got out and they realized it wasn't that terribly bad. They wanted to continue. At no time did I make a decision to continue on without full support and approval from the crew. If the conditions would have been beyond my driving skill level or the boats ability to navigate the waters then we would have returned to safe harbor. I/We had nothing to prove to anyone, we just wanted to play and have some fun.

Kudos to you for that. The screams from the girls definitely sounded thrilled, not scared. Sounded to me like everyone was having a great time in a badass boat.

I agree 100%

Congrats to the boats that made the first card stop, job well done, we were not one of them are crew decided its wasn't safe and I wasn't prepared to beat up the new boat for a couple cards. Next Year !!! can't wait. BTW after our ride across lake charlivoix we pretty knew it wasn't going to good on Lake Michigan.

I have to say, after the thorough explanation and repeated requests by the DNR for us NOT to run 4 wide and block the channel, it seemed like it was worse than last year. Some boats were blatantly on the left side of the channel and I can't believe some of the boats coming in weren't run into the wall because there had to be less than ten feet of clearance from the wall the some of our boats going out. A certain yellow cat comes to mind...

Also- maybe some others don't care as much... but for the second year in a row someone has been running their engines during the National Anthem. This is inexcusable in my opinion. I don't care if it isn't working and you're trying to get it running last second... or if you shut it off it won't start again... or whatever. Turn your engines off in respect for our country and veterans, please.

We had a great time and our best Boyne yet, but it's the small stuff that we all can get better on.

Hammer down!!

We were cruising between 40-65 throughout the run, but around 50 most of the time.

I agree with this. We were shouting and cheering. I constantly was checking around and asking if everyone was good (my girlfriend definitely had her reservations, but made the run just fine). Those of us that went out had just as much concern for the safety of our crew as any that turned back. I was comfortable that if a mechanical failure occurred I would be able to make it back in on one without any outside assistance.
