As Glenamy reminded us, if it gets too much....
|
I have a question.
The boat sits in the water all the time or just the weekend? Do you have shore power with a charger so that the bilge pumps don't kill the battery and it sinks at the dock? |

Just a thought. Forget about those float switch type bilge pumps and get an auto sensing pump. . . . . Something in the fifteen hundred gph range :D
seriously though, those float switches are worthless go auto  |

So it is safe to say you totally ignored my advice to hire a marine surveyor before you bought this boat.

Now find a site that pays you to put your clothes back ON, then you're onto something. |

I gotta believe it's a given that he is thick skinned . Being he is Thickheaded not listening to people telling him to not buy the boat to begin with.
To each his own. I Have done my fair share of stupid purchases in my lifetime also, many of them being boats. Padraig |
so what happens when the bilge pump gets plugged up with rotted wood particles and debris then blows the fuse or burns up the pump itself ???
Probably a 21 year old bilge pump(s) at that to. |
So you have a boat that probably has rot and mechanical issues(at least bellows), is taking on water and has an inoperative bilge pump and you can't take it out of the water. It's insured. You prevented it from sinking?

^ Ha, just wait till the next big rain storm and claim it! I get nervous when there was more than a drop of water in the bilge, never mind up to my oil pan. Personally I would call the season a wash, yank her out, and get her fixed properly. When boats break in the water, you dont have the luxury to pull over and wait for AAA safely on the side of the road. When you have a known weak point in the boat and subsequently a now known side effect that is more than likely part of that known weak point, why keep tempting fate. I would definitely not put my family in that situation. Not knocking ya, just my .02. The country and even our little sarcastic community has had enough loss and crap for the year. Don't need to read about someones transom giving way at speed and causing injury or worse.

I went to the boat this morning and the auto bilge failed. Engine compartment filled with water to the level of the bottom engine pulley. Engines won't even attempt to start. Is there something like a circuit breaker reset? How do I get this started. I do have battery power. This is an active thunder w/ 450's. Thanks
I know on my 1997 32 I have one switch for manual pump and one for auto pump. |
scott check replace bellows boots , water pump impellers , lets keep this positive

Did you turn the auto bilge on???
I know on my 1997 32 I have one switch for manual pump and one for auto pump. I have water pump impellers on their way, those will be replaced as soon as they arrive. Is there a way to check the bellows boot beyond visual inspection? is there a way to do this while the boat is in the water?.....I'm off to research this next. |
I'm not aware of how you check the bellows apart from dropping the boat in the water, trim it up and look in the bilge and see if water is coming in. It would come in trimmed up or down but up the would be extended and presumably leak worse.

pressurize the engine compartment and look for bubbles
