Looking for Clamp On Wind Screen?

Does anyone know of a source for a clamp on windscreen? I've been calling around and googling with no success. My boat does have a windshield on it and a grab rail (bar) type mount is not possible. It needs to clamp to the to frame on the top of the existing one. I've seen pics, but been able to find no product info.

There was a company, I think, called Windaway. From all reports a good product however I heard they are out of business. Maybe someone has some laying around.

Ya, I've seen pics, exactly what I need. There is another place out there called finleys, or something like that but they dont' make a clamp on style for an existing windshield. They said the same thing about that firm, but that they were out of business.

sorry for the bump, hoping someone knows of something.

Wind-Away was the best. I wish someone would purchase the patent on the device.

Wnd Away closed down a few years ago. I was looking at getting another set and talking to them told me that. I got one of the last 2 or 3 they had left then. Sorry for the bad news.

Fountainclimber 07-23-2016 06:15 AM

This looks similar, no?

If you go to other items by seller, there are more sizes/styles.

With all of the talented folks on here , it couldn't be that hard to make the clamps and let people cut their own plexiglass whatever size they wanted. Could probably even make them on a 3d printer.

I'm in for 2 pair!

Anyone got some good pics of the clamp and hinge , my old work partner may be able to make them on his setup. He makes and sells tons of stuff for rc trucks.

Indy 07-23-2016 02:54 PM

I think thirdchildhood could supply some pics of his.

I wonder if a set of these and a chunk of acrylic would work. That motorcycle version posted earlier would work for fairings/screens, but for a low windshield with a frame, I don't think there's enough adjustment to get around the frame.

I'd LOVE to have a pair if anyone moves forward with this project!

Interesting thought but the nice thing about the WindAway device was that it had different slots for different wind screen angles. Since my old Nordic had a sharp angle towards the cockpit I had to use a certain slot, those using them on more upright CC windscreens had another option.

I think I have a pair I bought and never used. Have to check.

Wonder if there's enough interest to get Jim Lee on board.

https://windaways-texas.myshopify.com/ just found their new site.

thinking about trying this https://www.amazon.com/MRA-402506612...0BCYB5Q9N&th=1 bolt on or clamp on

Thanks Wobble. Been looking for something for the fairing on my Powerquest. Havent found anything yet but these guys look like they might have something that works.

Rippem 08-03-2017 06:18 PM

LOVE my wind-away's. Couldn't live without them! Have had them 14 years. On replacement slightly larger than original optically clear poly cut for me for low$ by a local glass shop, nice radius corners and all. Nice to see they are still around. The beauty is the clamps.

Finney's are very nice. Went by their shop last year when in Havasu. If I remember correctly, they are acrylic. If you have a dash mounted grab rail they are great. If not, their screens come with a grab rail to mount. Mine clamp on. No drilling...

Wobble 08-04-2017 09:05 AM

I also am thinking about buying two of these to get the brackets and cutting my own plexi

Do you live in or near Houston? I can build you a set of two wind deflectors for less than the price of 4 of those clamps and meet you to deliver them.
