Thoughts on a 39 foot catamaran with quad 2.5 outboards?

Would a 39 foot Ocean Express catamaran work with quad outboards? I know it wouldn't go 130 mph or anything. I'm guessing the Ocean Express is a little heavier than a Skater, and the largest Skater I've seen with outboards is the 36 ft. Just want to hear some opinions...

This is just an opinion liked you asked for but I'm going to say that quad 2.5s would be inadequate.

How are you planning on mounting the OB's , The 39 has an extension over the tunnel so mounting will be tough. They are heavy boats and not the most efficient hull.

I am pretty sure on was built in the late 80s/ early 90's and it was a tird. I will have to dig up some pics. It was all black with 80s graphics

Wannabe you are correct.... That "tunnel extension" would have to be cut off....... More $$$

I just wonder if it would go 95mph, etc. Or if it has been done.

Had a pair of 2.5's on a 1993 30' Cobra Cat, 8.5' beam, ran 88. A 39 Ocean Express with 4, not sure but don't think you'll be happy.

What do you guys think of Cutting a Nortech 3900 down the middle , and mounting a 25 foot Hurricane Deck boat down the middle with 4- 557s on jack plates ?

The black 39 was a Midnight express.

.

I like the idea.

If the pics below is the cat you're referring to, I think it's a nice cat with lots of potential. True it won't be very quick, but it appears you're already expecting that.

The $10K asking is fair and would be a great base for doing a conversion. This cat is super wide with seating 4 across in the rear and 3 upfront!

I would do the makeover in phases. The first year, I would ask Glassdave (OSO ID) to remove the hull-extension box. Put the quad motors and enjoy

The second phase, a bit costlier, is to remove the deck and remove the interior beds, cushions, plumbing, etc and make it a simple 39' cat
Then replace the deck with a lightweight flat deck with wrap windshield (Boat Customs)
replace the interior with lightweight seating

This would be a great setup with offshore wave crushing capabilities
