Fountain "Beak" serve a purpose?

Why the beak- so the marketing department can add another foot or two to the boats brochure and ads with a semi straight face. The factory makes more money not having to spend the money to actually build a boat that long.
They are simply small for their size compared to most other offerings.
Its a trend that many companies follow by marketing the top length of their boat, vs the bottom of it- where most company add the swim step and call it "boat"- with fountain you get a swim step combined with a beak that can add several feet of boat length that doesn't really exist.
