One of our boats has won every One Design Race ever held over the last 2 years. Now that is a track record.

True statement, but I hope you guys realize I am kidding.

Artman,
The 252 is 25ft with swim platform. That boat should run close to70(if not more)with a 454 mpi mag.The Outlaw is built a little better than the 252and the 272 and the outlaws size is without the swim platform unlike the boss.

Any of the 24x7's are a great choice...superboat, pantera, condor...no pads, steps or notches...just a clean and fast running 24 degree hull....a mildly tweeked 350 will put you in the 60's....a blown 454 will knock your socks off!

I admit I don't really know much about the boats listed, but are those speeds about right? A 350 tweaked just to get in the 60's? I had an 18ft Donzi Classic 350 that went 62, so I guess with the bigger boat it sounds about right. Does a blown 454 put out around 600hp? What will that do - mid 80's? Are we talking 24 foot boats? What does knock your socks off mean?

Tim G,
How fast were you going in those 4 foot rollers? Did you say you were in a 28 ft Pantera? I'm really interested in them since so many people have said good things about them and they look great. What were the other performance boats that you beat?

(He's gonna kill me for this when we finally meet on Texoma) I have never seen a Baja legitimately run 70. I have had dealers tell me they will run 75 but I have never had to peg my throttles to outrun one. Before I added a blower my boat ran 77 on a good day and 74 on the normal day. I've never had an Outlaw run close. I know there are probably some souped up Baja's that may fly but I haven't encountered one yet. I do like the 25 Outlaw alot and considered buying one very seriously when I bought my boat.
Man that is a strong statement.....I will come to Liquid's defense here...You stated you have never seen a Baja run 70 in stock form...You must not see many Bajas in mid-america. I have a 02 H2x (24m ft) with a 496Ho and it will bust your A$$ if 71 is all you got....Get my drift? Pure stock on GPS will go 73.2 and that is at 3000 ft of elevation (east Tn.) Keep in mind the 25 Outlaw is not know to be fast but you said BAJA not 25 Outlaw....so you may want to correct your statement. Just could not let this statement pass!!!!!! Best of luck.:frog:

Hey Guys, first time poster

I just found your site, and I must say, it is just what i am looking for.

I just finished reading through this and other threads. I am also looking to move up to a 24-25' boat. I curentlly own a 20' Welcraft Nova Spyder with a 350 mag. I boat in Buzzards Bay Ma where it is not uncommen to have 5-6 foot seas, so I need something that can handle rough water.

The problem is that where I live there are not many performance boat dealers. The only 2 choices up this way is Baja, or Fountain and both of them a 2-3 hours away.

I had never even heard of Active Thunder before I found this site, I have also been looking at the Velocity 260, but I couldn't find much info about that boat on this board. I just checked out Active Thunder's web page and the 25 looks promising.

I will be in Florida next month for a drag race in Orlando, so I plan to take a trip to Velocity and Active Thunder to check them out.

So for my needs, what do you all recomend, I am open to any sugestions.

Thanks
Don

Don, Welcome to OSO. You might want to look into more like 28-30 foot boats if you are really thinking of 5 - 6 footers more than just getting caught in them once in a while.

It would also help if you could define what you are looking for in a boat. Do you want to fish from it? water ski? sleep? bring five friends along? race? fly across waves? go 85 in 4 footers? fly across 6 footers? go 100?

Once you define what you are looking for you will get inundated with opinions and great first hand information.

I wish people who own the various boats would post actual performance statistics. Here's what my little 24 footer will do along with running 85 in 4 footers and able to handle 5 - 6 easily. The numbers were in 2 - 3 foot waves coming from every direction and I am having the props tweaked so I can break 100 all the time.

My BatBoat with HTM engine
600 hp with dpx duoprop
Speed at 3,000rpm: 47.5 mph
Speed at 4,000rpm: 63.0 mph
Speed at 5,000rpm: 82.5 mph
top speed gps 98.0 mph @ 6200 rpm

40 - 70 in 4.5 seconds
50 - 80 in 4.5 seconds
60 - 80 in 3.5 seconds

You can't fish, ski, sleep, have more than one friend along, etc., but you can outrun most 28 - 30 footers especially when it really gets rough. If you are only interested in a blast to drive I have never seen more fun in a boat.

Tom
