i built a motor, 598, with one of his custom hydraulic rollers. it ran pretty good, but when i freshened it up, i used an old Crane cam that i had laying around. it was one of those grinds that he said was old school and done all wrong for modern applications. anyway, the boat picked up 3 mph over its best and idled better with a bit more vacuum. the specs were close, the Crane had 115 lobe centers vs 113, and had 4 degrees more exhaust duration. the crane cam was a .632 lift on both, the BM cam was .636. overall, at the 800 hp level, the old fashioned Crane cam had better performance.
