Kind of had the same thing happen at the boat show this June. They had a Sunday, 5:30am photo shoot and wanted the 24 in. It was a beautiful morning at the Maritime Museum and so quiet you could hear a pin drop. A couple folks out watching the sun rise. Others on the back of their anchored yachts drinking coffee. I waited as late as I could but I had to go. Having exhaust out the transom and both side of the boat spreads the love around.

That's what you have to do with carb's and big cams. Everything needs to be warm or you risk stalling coming in and out of gear.

Dock etiquette? My "buddy" lowers his 303 SR-1 in the slip directly across the walkway from mine (we are both backed in) just deep enough for the pickups to be in the water. Then he proceeds to light off his 500 + HP 489's with no mufflers and brings the RPM ups so they won't die. The walkway and, if my lift is lowered for boarding, my swim platform get a nice douching. The plus side is the noise drowns out the wife unit. :kiss: If my other buddy several slips down lights off his 600 + HP 522 Brad Smith mills you can hear them over the 489's. :drink: It really pi$$es off the perch jerkers fishing around the docks and the blue hairs in their houseboats and pontoons. Which is a good thing.

No it wasnt but he has this old eccentric large wood boat that is kept at the marina all summer near the launch. My wife said he looked like he may just work on the boat and not own it from his shirt. Not really sure.

We normally boat on the Colorado River that is infested with Zebra mussels. We live about 8 hours from Lake Tahoe and decided to drag the boat up there for a week. Before I could put my
"Zebra mussel diseased" boat in the water, I had the pleasure of paying the Lake Tahoe sterilizers a fee. The procedure consisted of putting my drive in a barrel of hot water to kill the mussels. The boat I
had then was a stock 496HO with open pipes under a molded swim platform. I was instructed to fire her up while The Three Stooges stood behind the boat to observe. They must not have had many performance
boats come thru, because I had to warn them to step back it would be loud. They assured me all was just fine. They all caught air as they jumped back 3 ft. when it fired off. One of the funniest and dumbest things I
ever saw.

Buddy of mine used to take delight in watching all the swimmers nearly jump out of the water when his supercharged 509 with Lightnings would light off.

Kind of reminds me of the US Nationals a couple of weeks ago. It was humorous to watch all the spectators gathered around the Top Fuel cars when they were test firing them in the pits. You would see 50 people jump 6 inches off the ground in unison when the crew chief would blip that throttle. It was like a bomb going off!

I don't know about any one elce but that is music to my ears. Nothing better thend that sound and the burning of your eyes and nose....mmmmm I can smell it now

They figure it out after the first 700 is fired up, so lighting up numbers 2 and 3 dont come as much of a surprise
