Shrink wrap vs custom winter cover?

Wondering if any ones done a custom winter cover for outdoor storage in the northern cold and snowy regions. I just got an estimate for my 370 SS. $4000 dollars, made just for my boat, Coverage to waterline with vents and door. At first I was like whoa, but then if shrink wrap is 900 bucks a season, it s paid for in four years. Any thoughts on this?

I'm surprised at both numbers. I'd expect the cover to be more and the shrink wrap to be more like 500-600. Have you shopped the shrinkwrap around?

Shrink wrap, done right, will shed snow MUCH better. If your winter storage is completely exposed, I'd lean heavily to shrink wrap. Especially if you don't have access to get snow off of it.

If it''s covered overhead like a carport, then maybe the cover is more appealing. But if it gets constant sun and weight of snow, I'd wonder how long the cover will survive. Every bit it stretches, it will want to stretch more when more water/snow lands on it.

$12 a ft is norm here. Can find some for $10.00
12 x 37ft = $444.00
10yrs x 444 = $4,440.00

Ya, 4K for a quality custom cover for a boat that size is not too bad. My boat stays outside with a cover on it, but it's at my house. So, I can go out and get the snow off of it.

A cover for a boat that size would be a beast too. Taking it on and off and storing it would be a PIA.

Everything in Jersey is expensive. Just found a shrink wrap for $15/ft. Gonna go with that. Should I put a door?

Had a winter cover made by a company named Fisher Canvas . Had it on my 35 Cig for 7 winters and it still looked new when i sold the boat this year. Full heavy (i mean HEAVY ) to the waterline . Great canvas, going to have one made for my concept.

Yes get a door. You may want to get into the boat prior to removing the wrap.
Also if you plan ahead and carefully remove the wrap you usually can reuse it a second winter.
