New boat prices are retarded.
If a person invested a 1/4 of a new boat price and made there boat new again, why shouldn't it be worth the money. New 38 CIG with 700's 500k Old 38 CIG made new 150k Seams like a savings to me, because your going to lose your ass when you go to sell the new one anyway. Just my opinion |
Maybe the used one is $100k BECAUSE the new ones are closer to $200k. I'm not saying the used one is reasonably priced but new boat prices are insane right now. I don't know why and I'm not criticizing boat builders, obviously people are paying $$$ for new boats so the demand is there. The last new boat I bought I got almost as much as I paid for it when i sold it seven years later.

As far as the original post.....I thought that boat was priced pretty high too. I let my Superboat go for not much more than that and it was a 2006 with a 525efi, ITS, K-planes, etc. etc. |

I didn't post any but I feel really bad for the guys that dropped a disgusting amount of money restoring 20-30 year old boats and thinking they are going to get anywhere near what they have in them, there are a few in the oso classifieds but I feel bad posting them. I also find it funny how long people are willing to hold onto things and not move on their price. Every year that thing sits it gets another year older, everything on it gets worse, and they will make you feel like an a-hole for offering 10% below the asking price..and I'm talking about in general not just with boats. People do it with property all the time and they have to pay taxes & insurance every year. Some people are very proud of their ****, let it go and move onto the next thing in your life. Again I apologize if I offended anyone if these are their boats it is just my opinion. |

I know ill never get what ill have sunk into my cig bullet but its the way I want it and know what is there now. do I think it should bring more then it would? yes only because what has been do to it. its better then when it came from the factory. I couldn't afford a new one. could have bought a tired 38ts now but it would have been just that a tired needed work boat. then you sink more fixing the newer bigger boat and your right back to the could have completely redone a older one then have a newer one half way done. just my $.02 |
Builder in Clearwater area is building a twin step 26-28 that is affordable and performs. Runs 75 with stock 250 outboard and sells for 55-60k.

2016 38 Fountain, New 38 Top Gun build price and the couple of new Bajas are the same retail price now as they were 10 years ago. So why the sticker shock on new boats?
