How much do you use your boat?
I've always been really curious how often people use their offshore's. Gas prices have come down which helps quite a bit. What boat do you have, power, how many days, and how much gas do you use (or miles traveled).
1987 Formula SR-311 Twin 420hp 454''s 26 days a year Usually around 25-30 miles each time. |
Fountain cc, triple Verados.
Used 10 x a year, done 70 hours in 3 1/2 years. (Most of the hours at idle) Terrible waste of money but it's a boat and I'm lost without one. :) RR |
the Sonic's last year went out 3 times. When I first got it though prob every other weekend year round.
current 24'er has not seen the water in about 2 months. Keep going out on friends boats as of late. |
We used it just about every weekend in the summer, brought out different friends most of the time, favorite spot is about 36 mile round trip probably went there 10 time this summer
now that were on the water its nice to just jump in a go to dinner too, cant beat a 15 minute idle over to dinner |
This yr not much, as I spent most the summer putting in the new motor, so maybe 20hrs all together.
In the 4yrs I have had it I have put on 272hrs, most of spent idling around the lake drinking cold ones but I think they still count. First yr that I built the boat I think I went out on it just about every day in the summer. |
about 25hrs this summer, but boat was broke a lot.
Still got out most weekends whether it was my boat or a friends though. |
"Not enough" ..... but I'm practicing. ;-)
|
I had 65 hours on my 2011 sonic until this summer; perfect weather it now has 168 hrs.... We used it every weekend.
|
I used to put 100 hours a yr. on my boats. The last few years has been 30-50 hours. An average day on the water for me is 60-100 miles, usually around 30-40 gallons. I haven't gotten a real handle on how much gas my new boat is using yet.
Gas prices don't change my boating plans, but weather and other obligations do. |
We live on a small (200) acre lake and boat several times a week with the roll bar boat, even if it's nothing more than an evening ride around the lake with a beer or glass of wine.
We try to get to the river weekly with the 24. Tuesdays are beautiful; the river isn't crowded, no ramp traffic, and usually it's just us and a couple other boats at the sand bar. Lately we've been trying to use the new (to us) 43 as much as we can before summer goes away and unfortunately we're about to that point. I'll add up the hours when we winterize everything, but well over 100 hours running time & I have no idea all the "float& relax" time. It was a beautiful summer here in MI..hate to see it end for the season. |
