Seawall collapse
 

Sort of boat related as I sometimes tie my boat to it, I relies there are other fellow boaters on here that have waterfront property and just wondering if anyone has experienced the following.
My seawall collapsed the other night split along the length just below the waterline, no hurricanes high tides or anything else excessive.
Insurance company say it not covered, anyone have any experience with a claim like this?

Are seawalls covered on you property insurance.

Tell me about it, just makes you wonder what are we paying insurance for?

We had to replace ours when it failed had water on the wrong side.

No insurance doesn't cover it

That's not good news, got 60' to replace but thanks for your help at least I know the insurer isn't screwing me over.

I put a new one in about five years ago when I bought my house. No, it's not covered by insurance. It was about $300/foot at that time for the vinyl panels.

Mine was about $268 per foot for vinyl with a composit top cap, concrete cap added a lot.

looks like the "toe" kicked out( toe being the area of the cement panel in the bottom or muck), was there a leaky lawn sprinkler or pool line mine is always settling and we keep putting small line stone rock in the lawn holes as it settles they say the panels are leaking and the up and down of the tide just keeps washing it out OR were the panels ever sunk into the muck far enough to start , i believe they take a rod and probe the bottom of the panels in the toe area to see if there deep enough so they dont kick out, some also drill a weep hole above hi tide to equalize back pressure or a high water table

Panels had weep holes, at first I thought it was the toe that had kicked out but after further investigation the concrete panel have split along the length unbelievable the pressure that must have been exerted to do this.
There is still about 12-14 inches protruding out of the canal muck.

Wildman - yeah mine is concrete cap. I plan on living here till I die so I went for it.

Jay - I used Quality Marine Construction for the seawall, they are based here in palmetto. I would definitely recommend them. Not sure if they go down to ft Myers or not but give them a call. 941-531-3550

I've also used Duncan Seawall for dredging but they are good with seawalls too. I didn't use them for the seawall cause they were more expensive for the same product but it wouldn't hurt to get a few quotes
