People will buy the motors and drives (depending how they are priced). The rest will take you forever and the less stuff on the hull the less chance it will ever sell.
|
Ive cut up and disposed of a 25.5 IMP and didn't like doing it. Sucks thats how things go. I'm just very careful at picking my purchases that if i'm stuck with them for life I want to make sure i'm still happy 30 years from now. In fact I may be making another purchase this week. But all in all yea it sucks. Hope you make the best of your situation.

Don't part it out. Will never work out financially. Just drop price till it sells. It's priced to high for the buyer that would buy it. Good luck.

How much is your time worth? If the boats not selling its either price, product, or condition. Market for boats today is the same as a snow mobile in July. If you can wait, sell early spring and price to sell. To get a serious buyer you need to be a serious seller.
|
I parted out my last boat a 31 scarab and came out much better than I would have selling it whole. My current boat I know that if I ever go to sell it I will be parting it out also. When you do your math I would do it with selling the engines amd the drives and then like stated earlier the best chance of getting rid of the hull will be with it fairly complete. If you take off the transsom assemblies steering and other stuff it's basically going to just be a bathtub.

Regardless of dollars in. 75k for a straight bottom triple boat isn't going to happen. Ever. You can get twin step stagger 42s for that money. Nice ones.
|
Part it out then put an auction on the Outerlimits thread to cut the beak off
|
Closest 42 big step staggered I see here on OSO is 95,000. That's with 525's and no trailer and most likely salt water. Everything else is WAY over 100k. Funny how people ask that kind of money for an old tank of a Cigarette and nobody bats an eye.

http://www.offshoreonly.com/classifi...re-o65599.html This is the closest competition for a triple engine Fountain. (asking 99K for a 47 triple 500 efi) http://www.offshoreonly.com/classifi...88-o67013.html This is your closest competition in the age/size bracket. (asking 55K for a red 40 ICBM Fountain) |
I would suggest doing the math on what you can get parting it out with the main items (Engines, Drives, Transom Assemblies, Exhaust, K-Planes, Steering, Gauges, Trailer, etc) and see what amount that comes out to. Then decide which way makes more sense to part or sell complete. I would agree with the others that unfortunately a straight bottom triple is not most people's choice when spending that king of money (even though I'm sure it's a great boat) so it's likely going to be a limited group of buyers looking for that boat.....and then they have to be willing to pay big money for it. Best of luck with your decision
