Someone in another thread said it blew an engine.

In the far turn every lap it did the same thing ,
just flopped back and forth ,and up and down
.once they backed off the throttles a bit it did smooth out a bit.

Any video?

Who built the engines?

What happened? Mechanical issues?

One can only speculate as this info is never shared.....they are cutting edge on new boat design no one else even in the same ballpark, but there race program?? This is not the first time this has happened to them in key west...they always seem ill prepared. I know I will be stoned by there supporters...and I did say one can only speculate.....first day one blown motor other down on power?? So What Happened??

Here is what we reported after Friday's race: "Engine issues kept owner/driver Joe Sgro and throttleman Steve Curtis from starting their new Outerlimits SV 43 V-bottom today in the Superboat Extreme class. The team also struggled with engine issues in Wednesday’s race. Whether Sgro and Curtis will compete on Sunday remains undetermined."

I spoke with two key members of the team and both said that they simply didn't confidence that their engines would last through Sunday's race. As they did from the time they announced they would compete in Key West, they declined to name the engine builder.

When asked,, they provided no additional details on the specific causes of failure within the engine program. To be honest, folks, that's not at all unusual in this sport. I don't know about other motor sports as this is the only one we cover.
