No power adder, single carb, No EFI? brake twice daily MSD ignition? .. flame arrestor looks like it came from a 502 mag... That`s a race motor?

Yeah, I'm sure it needs tunnel rams and some custom grind cams blessed by the Chicago area boaters certification syndicate.

I do wish the engine spec for that class at least allowed fuel injection....Ill never wrap my head around building a new $700k boat and putting ancient technology engines in it.

I don't get that either, all motorsports look to forward technology, not go backwards. but a 9 boat field in KW will be fun to watch.

Even nascar is EFI now...
You're right though, it seems to be working!

ICDEDPPL 10-27-2016 03:43 PM

I did not realize there were restrictions on the build. That make sense now. I`m sure it would have some PSI blower otherwise.
Seemed strange for such a badass boat to have those motors in it..

I think that`s supposed to be a dig right? I run of the shelf cams and live 40 minutes from Chicago so...

In many big chitties that may be only 5 or so miles out...
Used to enjoy driving to Seattle for the day , checking stuff out . Anymore id rather not deal wih the whole mess they have .

MILD THUNDER 10-27-2016 06:45 PM

I'm sure aimed at me. I live in the city. I like tunnel rams, and camshafts. Microwaves and 496 truck motors don't get me too excited, but to each their own.

I was always impressed how those small supercat engines performed. What like 510ci, 7500rpm, 750hp ?

What the weight of those Cats, like 9500 lbs or something?

Got Freedom? 10-27-2016 07:16 PM

Yep, 510ci maximum, 9.5:1 cr and max weight at the end of the race of 9,500lbs. Very competitive class, cant wait for Key West!

Yes its a real race motor not a pleasure boat sunday bay boat motor. Simple light reliable and lots of horse power for the class. They wouldnt want to go any faster, as long as its a level playing field does it really matter. If it saves lives does it matter 130 or 120.

No different then the SuperVee class its almost to the point the class is getting to fast for the boat. Its not a kilo run its a race boat and the fastest boat every wins the race.

Come on, we're not here for a long time; we're here for a GOOD time. Laugh a little more.

7000 on pump gas instead of 7700 on race gas. Great class !!! And great engines

Wow they tested on little lake St Cloud!

Xtremeracing 10-29-2016 09:44 AM

Great place to test awesome marine, and ideal conditions 90% of the time.

777offshore 10-29-2016 09:48 AM

That little lake is far wider than any straight away in Key West.

Actually a very good place to test without a crowd.

Sounds awesome for 9.5:1! I didn't realize they had made the CR spec change in this class.

I didn't either until we went to the race in cleveland this past summer. We were checking out the performance marine center boat. We got to talking with one of the team and he was showing us the spare engine and we were comparing the engine to the used 2001 supercat I started with.
