are there any renderings of the i8?

Renderings? They have been testing and running them all summer in Wisconsin with mocked up 300 verado cowlings

The current I-6/400R is definitely not done at 400hp, whether or not we see Mercury release a higher HP version a week from now remains to be seen though. As for an I-8 vs a V-8 coming next for the bigger platform, I won't argue with you. With the target market being the big center console Vs, a narrower I-8 would allow the manufacturers to fit more motors on the back, which in turn sells more motors for Mercury. Makes better business sense to go with a narrow I-8. I can't wait to be back in Miami next week!

They are not releasing anything over 400hp in the I-6 platform

I don't doubt what you are saying. The order was placed for my 400Rs today with Lisa Scola, and she said there is nothing with higher HP for 2018. She also said it will be 13 weeks before the motors will ship out of Fon Du Lac. It's amazing they are that backlogged on orders for the 400Rs. I've known the larger platform was coming for over a year now, as Mercury Racing bought a very large casting machine out of Michigan at that time. There's only one reason they would have done that.......

Thanks for catching that Rob, I'm used to Skater time, so 13 months seemed just about right! :)

No 450 for 2019 either from what I've heard. Sounds like the V8 300Rs are having great results on all the boats they have running with them so far though.

Now if they could just keep prop shafts from breaking on the 300R & 400R maybe they would release something bigger.....

Do they? I thought these things were bullet proof, at least it will be covered by warranty.
