I see they were thinking about reversion, or could have been. There are independently variable cogs on the valve train. So maybe we will see big cams that do not revert.
So cool.

Mercury Racing continues to set the pace with world class engineering and innovation. Really don't see any negatives here. Sure exhaust and circulation pumps take a few ponies but same can be said with custom builds. Don't think others dyno with stuff with wet exhaust and water pump circulation. As far as drives breaking, there are options, 6's & 8's.
Kudos Mercury Racing for raising the bar again.

Majority of people can't/don't play in that league. (Hope to soon)
It's common knowledge that the makeup of bravo gear sets including XR have degraded over the years. Why? Chinese steel? Russians? BLM? I'll venture a guess that it gets down to profit margin/parts sales.
Look at what a SEI lower costs with a warranty (and their making $$$) vs a Mercury.
Just sharing a perspective. Keep building new 6/8 boats, us used boat guys need the future market to have them

Its obvious to us but I dont think its realistic. There arent enough boat sales in the performance niche. Besides, if Mercury comes up with an SCX variant, it might be more expensive than an SCX. MSRP on an XR is $9,000 +/- and an SCX $16,000 +/- if a Bravo Mercury SCX variant is $14,000 its not enough to matter. Lets be honest, if its mercury, it will be $18,000.
