they are banking on 2 stroke sales ? Or is this for persay race boats ?

Everyone has moved over to 4 stroke outboards for improved SALES. Yamaha and Merc and Suzuki are 3 months min behind for 4 stroke outboard orders.

Unicorns...…….they were going to LOTO this year to enter the shootout. Funny, I didn't see them there.

dont get me wrong its a very nice piece 4 sure. Has alot of cool stuff.

Very limited market and IMO not sure about 2 stroke for sales and how many that would take out of the mix.

I do not know if this is a race application and they require 2 strokes. ? Just saying

CRT will try for LOTO again in 2019 if everything goes as planned

This isnt your fathers 2 stroke technology. Just like motorcross, I think you will see a resurgence in 2 stroke over the next couple of years as technology and materials improve. The HP per cubic inch has the potential to be higher with WAY LESS rotating parts/no valvetrain. They are pulling almost 600 HP out of 3.5 liters and it only weight 400LBS. You can look at the math and say this is worth looking at for future development. Several systems are multi-injector with two or more injectors into the transfer ports of the cylinder and makes the engine much, much smoother. The part that is finally coming around from the multi port fuel injection is a drastic reduction in fuel consumption and also removing the need to pre-mix fuel.

Just imagine 600 horsepower, no valvetrain, less than 400 LBS. Thats friggin awesome. I hope these guys can pull thru.

All valid points. But IMO in order for all this to be competitive in the recreational use market it will need a bit more incentive to compete with the Mercury 5 year warranty.

The way I see it and why the rec boat market will not buy this --- The top of the line bass boats and tops in sales --- ranger or skeeter or triton bass boat guy is not buying this outboard. For one who is going to work on it and maintain it before all the bass tournaments, 2 what is the warranty ? 3. And what is the price of this ? 4 its unproven. 5 whom is going to perform any warranty work when something breaks ? 6 -- 2 stroke and emissions ? Has this engine passed any CARB and EPA emissions ? A few lakes currently do not even allow 2 strokes.

Then we have the high end boats and higher end priced Skater - DCB and so on. I doubt they are going to install it in masses going up against Merc and Yamaha 4 strokes . There will be few sold to this style boat but IMO not the masses.

They are an updated and refined 2.5 Offshore replacement. If you have a 2.5, you probably love it. You probably don't want to replace your setup, re-rig your boat, etc, etc. Re-building your 2.5 is also getting harder and harder. Parts are getting harder and harder to find. That being said, nothing and I mean nothing, runs like a fresh 2.5. It's the angriest engine in the world. They arent trying to replace 400Rs. Stop over thinking it.
We have quite a few customers with older outboard Skaters that run excellent with 2.5s and don't want to change. They will eventually wind up with CRT power. The negativity on this post is overwhelming. Sheesh

These engines definitely seem to be for the F1 and outboard drag boat racers where there is a market.
