Roost deflectors?
Following several "incidents" during the Key West races this weekend(and all other races). It got me thinking. While I love seeing a monster rooster tail behind a crazy fast boat, I cant help but think. Those roosts cause a lot of problems. Again don't hate me for thinking it, but why is there not some sort of roost deflector mounted off the back of the cavitation plate on the drive to stop all the problems it causes during races. Thoughts?

While the force from it may not be significant, if that force is significant enough to affect the boat's running attitude it would be a problem:
For ever action there is and equal and opposite reaction... it would not just be a deflector, it would act like a trim tab of sorts, and the reaction force from it would be a bit unpredictable since a "roost" isn't that consistent/predictable of a thing when you are in/out of the throttles, turning, different speeds, etc. |
