Mti at national liquidators

Does anyone have any info on the Budweiser select race boat up for auction? http://www.yachtauctions.com/invento...-racing/10948/

Perlmudder 11-30-2016 07:53 AM

I believe it used to be on Grand Lake. I remember seeing pictures of it at E-Dock

That was rockstar punched, now marine concepts at LOTO

Awesome poker runboat, a lot of history

phragle 11-30-2016 08:25 AM

I havent seen national liquidators name come up in a long time. A while back there were some posts about getting anything out of there was pretty much an inside operation on anything good. So if you are interested in it, I suggest finding the right person at national to take out to a nice steak dinner at the strip club....

Incredible boat and we had a lot of fun in it, but in NO WAY is it a poker run boat. Canopy, crash boxes, and a rudder are a recipe for disaster on poker runs. Even with 4 experienced guys on board it can be a hand full.

f_inscreenname 11-30-2016 11:27 AM

Wow that thing is a 4 pointer.

BigSilverCat 11-30-2016 11:41 AM

That boat is not the one that was on grand lake. The rockstar boat that was on grand had the rudder and bussle cut off and #6's put on it.

PigNaPoke 11-30-2016 12:03 PM

False alarm mistook for Texas repo boats.

Back to my original question. How does a piece of equipment this caliber end up on an auction? Makes no sense to me. There have to be demons somewhere, or the boat would be bought and sold at that price.

JRider 11-30-2016 12:08 PM

Thats the Bud select boat.

Call me uninformed or skeptical, but isn't this the establishment everyone thinks is a shady business? How do they come into a boat of this caliber? The pictures make it look well kept, but if I am correct about past readings I'd say every bit of the drivetrain would need looked at to be "reliable" because they are probably planning on it lasting til you get out of their sight.

Thinkin guys name is Paul casey.

correct. Complete douche. Everything in that lot is a lost cause.....

Trust me those were some fun times!!

You sure it's the same? I couldn't verify so I edited... it looks like the same yard to me.

I'd be very cautious even at half that price point.

National is VERY hard to get a deal done. However, not every boat is a repo or has a story. Some of the sales are just people that don't want to deal with the normal grind of selling. I wouldn't say it's priced as a steal so that might be the case here. And what repo comes with props IN PROP BOXES. :-)

This is definetly not the boat from grand, as Tyson stated that boat is now the Speedracer boat on LOTO.
I believe this is the old Turbine boat that Dave had built at the same time. Couple things give it away, first Dave was the only person to run the Trimax drives, also It looks like you can see the old air intake pathways in front of the motors where there should be a solid bulk head. This boat also a couple other unique things to.
Looks like someone took the turbines out and repowered, and glassed in where the turbine air intakes were as well as the rear air foil/spoiler use to be. IMO
One thing to consider is this boat probably had bladders in in when it was built. Which don't last long and probably would need replaced with cells.

Turbine is still in Europe I thought, but I think your right, I have been known to be wrong before but hard to believe this snuck back across the Atlantic repowered with no one noticing I remember Dave saying for high speed the cg needed moved forward but couldn't move the turbines any more forward.

I admit I was stumped for a bit but I think your right. And the description says its fiberglass and the turbine boat was fiberglass and not carbon. Cockpit looks like that boat also.

Pics of turbine boat. Has the same air intake behind canopy.

I had forgotten about that. They also took a little out of the front of the tunnel to reduce some lift I believe.
I really don't know much from those pics, but I would guess that it's the old Turbine boat. Sure looks like it in the pics anyway.

PG-13 12-01-2016 01:19 PM

How did it run with the turbines? Why buy as turbine and then convert to piston power? What was the reasoning

Griff 12-01-2016 03:42 PM

Dave Scott only made one test pass with it at the 2006 Shootout. It was only delivered a week or two before the Shootout.
I don't think they ever dialed it in and then it was sold overseas.

Helmwurst 05-10-2021 06:26 AM

It's at the right place to get the most info. Myrick works there and he was Dave's #1 guy when they worked together out of the shop on the 12mm.
