Two piece valve covers

I am looking to buy new valve covers for my blower motors. I am interested in two-piece valve covers for ease of valve lash adjustments. Any recommendations? Anyone have actual experience with any particular 2-piece valve cover? I understand that some have leak issues. Thanks in advance for any comments.

If you don't want them to leak run a bead of silicone around the top after you install them. Even on the newly designed ones that aren't suppose to leak. Why? They still leak. You can't buy nice stuff anymore.

My Ke's have leaked since day one. I leave a rag in the one corner to contain pia.

Sutphen30 and some others posted pics on how to modify (quite easily) the leaking KE's s bunch of years ago. Should be worth the search.

I'm positive. They leak. Silicone the top around the seam and they don't leak. Is what it is. If you worked with this stuff on a daily basis you would understand. You can't buy anything nice anymore. Quality is a thing of the past.

thanks for the input....

we could build you a two piece valve cover with a clear top so you can see the rockers to keep an eye on them and diagnose a problem real quick.

^^^ I wondered about this in a recent solid lifter thread . It just doesn't seem it would be that difficult to make a two piece cover that seals.

No personal experience with them, but many complaints on here about leaking issues.

If the 2016 KEPP 2-pc valve covers are still leaking, this is total BS. Maybe it is time for all of OSO to consider moving all your Hardin Marine business to other parts suppliers. Come on KEPP...isn't it now time for the company(s) to reply to these current leak accusations? Defend your current quality or just pull your 2-pc valve corners from the market.
Happy New Year?

I tried to contact KE but it was a waste of time the had my money and was told pound sand i installed wrong. Yeah right it's not brain surgery to install valve covers.

thedonz 12-19-2016 07:52 PM

It's a shame, I'm tired of oil in the bilge because of valve covers.

Tyson, do you have any pics of what they look like and price point?

About all of the Manuf in Napcar use a 2 piece cover with no problems. They are all Billet though , not a Casting . We made ours with a .375 wide flange and dovetailed in a .080 Viton Oring . No Leaks ever.
But the dry sump pumps pull 20-22 inVac in the Crankcase , You cant even pull the damn things off with no bolts in them when the engine is running !
Im sure someone makes a good BBC 2 Piece cover , but the are gonna be pricey!

The KE ones weren't cheap, take in to account the number of times many removed them, sent them back reinstalled them and cleaned the bilge. They were never right.

JRider 12-21-2016 09:55 AM

Damn, seems like a damn simple part, hard to believe they leak at all.

fountain4play 12-21-2016 10:25 AM

I used to have the KE two-piece valve covers and they were GTL (Guaranteed to Leak). Switched them to the Lightning Performance ones a couple of years ago and they work very well. The KE ones are junk....

Been awhile but i remember somewhere around 500 dollars for the set and i think i had to buy screw in breathers also. I have KE headers for 7 plus years and not a single problem so i'm 50-50 with this goof.

I had to add the breathers and puke tanks and they still leaked like a sieve.
