Diffences between a chriscat 30 and a nortech 36?

Ok i know, not in the same price range and 6 feet difference
Besides that, it seems like a bigger nortech with 700 hp seems to run in the 140-160 mph range
While the smaller chriscat with similar power runs in the 100-110 mph range
Why is that? Is a 36 nortech lighter than a 30 chriscat? Or is it because the tunnel is more efficient on the nortech? Even if the 30 would be heavier, i cant imagine a 36 nortech having a rougher ride than a chriscat 30?
Any thoughts about that from people who knows?

For starters, NO Nortech will run in the 140-160 with 700's. For that matter barely any Nortech run close to 160 besides " Loose Canynon" when Joe from Sarasota build it in 2005 and that one exceeded 160 when it wasn't broken.

36NT/700s more like 130 downhill with a tailwind

jeff32 12-28-2016 10:08 AM

there was a mti speedracer with 525 that ran 115 mph if my memory serves me well... right? wasn it a 40 feet?

so 20-30 mph faster in a 6 foot bigger boat with similar power... again my question is how? or why?

Weight, hull design, steps, and etc.

That boat ran just over 100mph at a shootout on the Mississippi river a few years ago, its also a stripped down race boat with no cabin so its got to be pretty light for what it is.

The Speedracer boat with 525's...

SkaterMike82 12-28-2016 10:53 AM

modern technology r&d

Yes, but a light lay up race boat. It is now the Broadco boat.

Wow

By the way, the 40ft MTI's are with the tails sticking off the back. A 40ft MTI has the same bottom length as a 36 skater and runs similar speeds. Speed Racer/ now Brodco is a true 36ft.

Art DiNick has run 140s IN A STANDING MILE several consecutive years at LOTO Shootout w/ 800s AO 3100. Seems like seat time and setup trump most all obstacles, IMHO.

A 36 Nortech is actually 38'8" long. It's a big 36.

Should do about 115-118 with stock 700s.

I'll argue that those 525s were "stock" also

Ran-Dom 32 12-31-2016 04:02 PM

The difference is 20 years of technology.. I had a 95 Awesome 31 with 700hp x 2 & my brother had a 05 Nortech 36 with 525's that could outrun it .. 110 vs 115 iirc

jeff32 12-31-2016 04:04 PM

that coi???

Ran-Dom 32 12-31-2016 04:09 PM
