Fort Myers Beach

I'm headed to Ft Meyers next week. Where's the best seafood and Italian food in the area. I have a car for the week. Also where's the hot boat action ?

Head down to the Lani Kai (sp). It is a fun place to hang and there are ussually some boats out there off the beach.

Just got back last week. Went to the Channel Mark resteraunt and saw a flyer that they have a powerboat sunday. It looked like they are trying to get all the local go fasts to come over and party on the dock on sundays.

Stop and see John at Sport Boat Marine on San Carlos blvd right before the bridge. He has a large stock of Donzi and Fountain and is always happy to spend time with a fellow enthusiast. Ask about his 2003 38ZR.

Great Place

Ft. Myers Beach is great.

The Channel Marker is one good place, so is the Pawn Broker for Sea Food.

You should see some Commanches, McManus is located in the area and building big $ boats.

I will ask about the Italian Resturants and get back to you.

The bridge and Lani Kai seem to be the best places to hang out. I just moved to this area and so i am still learning the hot spots myself. :p

27 Fountain,Real estate at Fort Myers beach ?

27 Fountain I see by your post that you have recently moved to Fort Myers beach. I have thought about the possibility of buying a place in that area, any thoughts as to places, real estate agents etc. I would like to get a place that is 5 years old or newer. My family and I have stayed nearby at Sanibel harbor marina and we like the area. Thanks for any suggestions. Frank

Frank,

I don't know of any realestate people in this area, yet. However Houses on Cape Coral are still affordable. If I purchase a house in this area it will be in Bonita springs just south of FT Myers, between FTmyers and Naples. Seems to be the most quickly developing area.;)

There's a good italian place next to the Junkanoo .... screw the Italian , and get a burger @ the Junkanoo !!!!!!!

Actually , there are decent spagetti joints all up and down the beach........ One of my favorites is Enzo's down in Bonita Bch. but for a really good meal try Rhodes on Bonita bch RD.

Thanks for the replys.....Has anyone been to an Italian place called Divincios ( or something like that ) in Bonita ?

I think you mean Vincenzo's on Bonita Beach Rd. It's fine. A small place and they think they're pretty hot in season - valet parking only, in a dirt lot.

For ambience I'd recommend the restaurant at the Diamond Head beach resort. For decent Italian food and wine I'd recommend Francesca's at Mid Island Marina. It really is waterfront. Half the restaurant is out on the docks.

Does anyone know if the Channel Mark is still doing Sunday afternoon / evening for powerboats ? I'm leaving to trailer the boat down tomorrow and staying 'til Monday afternoon. Thought I'd get in a little "joy riding" to hold me over 'til next time.

What about seafood ? My wife is a baked clam and grouper nut. Usually find the baked clams at Italian rest.

I have an office in Ft Myers and was down there last week. Had dinner one night at the Channel Mark and they still had the banner up for Thunder Sundays. Great idea, show off your ride and have a good time. They are just coming into season so I'm sure it will continue and get better. I wish we had something like that around here.
As for dinner spots, the Chart House is good and Shooters is close by it, they are on the river. The Bubble Room is interesting if you have never been there, it's on Sanibel. If you have a boat, or you can rent one, run up to Cabbage Key for a great burger.
I'm currently looking at the possibility of relocating back to the area and basing myself from the Ft Myers office.
I've got to tell you real estate values for canal / direct access homes have tripled in the last 3 years.

Every restaurant on or near the beach has grouper, the favorite dish of the state bird - the early bird.

If you have a boat or rent one, I like the green flash on Captiva, or South Seas Plantation. I also like the burgers on Cabbage Key but my wife enjoys a more sophisticated atmosphere.
