F1 hit Thailand this weekend and the outright winner was an Aussie more than twice the age of the other competitors. I'm happy to have met HER!

It's rude to talk about people's age but I overheard some Thai guys talking and she's ๖๘ years old! Kay Marshall led from start to finish, lapping several others racers and was never under pressure.

The racing was scheduled for Bangkok (on the river) but was moved at very short notice due to heavy rains and pollution on the river. They moved everything to a sleepy little fishing village about 100miles South of the capital, 10 minutes from me.

I know nothing about this class of boat racing, don't even know which is F1, F3, etc and the following photos are from a cheap phone camera and nothing like the standard we see from the professional photographers on here but thought it was interesting to see Thailand put on a good show. Might not be a grand scale but the racing was fast and exciting.

The 40hp class was a great start with 9 boats, looking like they were put together with old bits from the barn. Exhaust above water sounded pretty cool, crude steering setups but everything worked and looks like an affordable entry to boat racing, especially here in Thailand.

The 60hp class was hotly contested because everyone had identical power! Straight from Mercury Racing, shiny new four-strokes, good racing but not loud enough....

The big guns came out around 5pm by which time the humidity had risen and my little phone camera was fogging up....

I tried to get a few on water shots but my camera was fogged and the boats moved too damn quickly!

The star of the day was of course Kay Marshall. I was sweating like mad as I watched from under a palm tree, I can't imagine how hot she must have been in that tiny little cockpit all rugged up for safety.

A few onlookers and more so, the other racers, were absolutely thrilled for her and were so polite and thankful to have been racing against her regardless of where they finished.

If you ever thought girls are spineless or age is a barrier then you've been proven wrong today!
