Off the top of my head if windshield is mandatory: Formula 382, Fountain 38, Powerquest 38. Since you already have had a Formula, the 382 would be a good choice for you. The cabin can make a nice conversion for 2 berths just be aware of deck to hull bond issue on the older models. Tons of room in there. Many can be found with Blue power getting you into the 70s easily. We owned a Powerquest 22' and it was a well built boat. I have no experience with the 38, it seems performance is very close to the Formula. We have a full staggered 38 Fountain, there were a few years there was a 38 Fountain semi staggered also. The full staggered cockpit is really tight for coolers, kids, rafting, etc. If your like us, its just the 2 of us and occasional friends so it works for us. The cabin is very nice and plenty of room, more than you would think. I do not have first hand knowledge of the semi staggered cockpit layout, maybe someone else knows the cockpit size difference between the 2. The Fountain is much more narrow focused on speed vs the Formula and Powerquest. I will agree working on staggered engines is a dream, cleaning and maintenance are done in much less time. We had a 353 with 525s before the 38 Lightning, that boat made me want a staggered set-up. Good luck on your search. Get out to view some boats and compare how you and your crew would use it, launch it, and transport it. Nothing better than hands on to make a decision.

38 fountain w 525's will run 90, more like 80 with 500 efi's Either way . A good boat with resale. Not too huge to tow either.. 1 night.. Well there is room on the swim deck to sleep . Keep the hair incase you need to hold her in the boat.
