Wait am I reading this right? are the new dry sump 6s 40K each ?? That’s 80 K a Pair Divided By an 150 Hour Life Cycle ?? @ $533.33 an Hour LOL Guess it could be worse! And that would be having more of them.

Like having Three then the Hourly would go to a Cool $800

I am just Joking here.But what does it cost to do a complete rebuild on the #6 Drive?

It's more of a duty cycle thing. High speed cat's don't usually run wot for much time. Big v's with big torque motors might see more wot stick time. Put them behind 500-700's and with some oil changes you could go literally hundreds of hours before major servicing, but you don't want to wait until they break! There is a real big spread of applications out there so it's almost a guess on their part to give a quick answer.

I had #3's on an Apache 41' with C&G 700's for 3 years:

ZERO problems with NO rebuilds. Went through 4 motors and 4 transmissions, but NO drives.

I had #6's on another Apache 41" with first C&G 850's, and then Merc 1000SC's. Again, ZERO problems and NO rebuilds over 4 years, including 10 races (@155 mile each). Went through MANY motors, no crash-boxes, and no drives.

The most reliable part of both boats.

how much is it to overhaul a #3 or #6 assuming its pervenative maintence. is there special tools needed ? is there manuals available to the public showing overhaul information?

Have there been any #6 drive failure stories ?
There doesn't seem to be as much info on these drives as other types.

Wasn't Big Thunder running somewhere around 2200+ hp through them. I thought they were running two engines inline into one drive.
