There was a time when you could buy a 39' Velocity, 39' Nortech, 39' Cigarette or TWO different 39' Outerlimits models. All with 525/700(or bigger)power. I don't remember anyone claiming one company was copying the other.

I'm a Skater Cat guy but I will watch for this V and hope it performs well to give people what they want. Options.

I find this whole setup rather sexy from the sketches. It's like a Gladiator with the option to taken a harem with you.
The OL is a stand up boat. This appears to be sit down.

So Outerlimits is worried about Skater building v bottoms?

Going by their last few attempts at it I would say not at all.

Wonder when Mercury will finally build the 400 with a shorter gearbox? The engines look so unnecessarily big.

Despite this they are changing the boating landscape.

There is the X-Cat engine @ $20+k more each in a 15" mid... that will probably be the last offering in shorter gear cases - Bigger HP O/B will follow... basic rules of business stability - follow the $$$$ and 15" mid is too small of a market.

The demand for 2-5 big outboards at a time being hung on pretty much every CC/ (and now) performance V going out modern boat builders doors is "THE" active market

That overall powerhead design is good for 500HP. But nothing below it can hold up to it.
