Skater 368 Reaches 119 MPH On Verado ROS Outboard Power

Congratulations to Matt Rice and all the folks at Skater Powerboats and Grant's Signature Racing on this beautiful Skater 368 catamaran project, https://speedonthewater.com/new-boat...outboard-power.

A comprehensive feature on Matt Rice’s Skater 368 catamaran will appear in the March/April issue of Speed On The Water digital magazine, which goes live Monday, April 24.

I hope by comprehensive you mean a full test with speeds and fuel burn, just like in the old days! Looks like the perfect setup, fast enough to be fun, not fast enough to be deadly.

I never thought it would run that fast with twin's , That is a great accomplishment for Skater and the owner of the boat :)
Have fun out on the water now

Matt- do they still plan to do more testing to see if they can get more speed?

No longer in the boat testing business, but we'll definitely provide more information in the feature. I do know they ran 445 miles during the weekend and burned 232 gallons of fuel. You do the math. :)

Mr. Rice heads home today but as he said in the story he thinks he could have pulled a couple more miles per hour out if in better conditions as he left some engine rpm on the table. He'll definitely keep playing with it—he's a former offshore racer and speed lover at heart—and we'll certainly report if he the boat runs faster, but top speed is not what this one is about. Mr. Rice really, really wants a family boats set up for all-around performance.

Wow, 119 is a great number and that boat looks fantastic!! I'm very interested to see what the real world #s are with a bunch of fuel, people, gear, etc. I know our 30 feels and drives completely different all loaded down, granted we only have 300's. Congrats on a helluva a nice boat.

That is a very impressive run. The boat looks absolutely awesome. Does anyone know what the final rigged weight is? I know Mercury says the powerheads are the same but have to wonder if the ROS just.a bit more power with shorter exhaust.
Congrats to all involved and he has a one of a kind for now! Have a feeling Pete will be building more of that model!

Approximately 5,400 pounds dry.

Any acceleration numbers on it?

120mph with twin 400's is pretty efficient......
