Dilema, dilema,

what to do

run the boat ONE last time on Saturday, or go snowmobiling.
what's a michigan sophisticated redneck to do......

isn' t this state great!! Went sledding in late April last spring, and boating in early may.

gotta get the hunting in too......

BURNSMAZZ 10-11-2002 08:01 AM

We'll be out at Hastings sunday, hopefully we'll see some racing.Last year it was rained out and the year before the timing lights didn't work.Looking forward to some good riding this year, started the maintenance last night shocks, hyfax, bearings etc.. man those little bastards can nickel and dime you to death!

Airpacker 10-11-2002 08:41 AM

NEVER SURRENDER

Goin to he cottage one last time with the boat this weekend.Calling for 65 to 70 and sunny so I just can't call it quits yet.next weekend is winterize the boats, pull the docks and close up the island. Then the sleds come out for maint work.Although with the winter forcast ahead,I wonder if its worth rushing because it sounds like winter won't come till january anyway:mad:
I got in just a lousy 2000 miles last season on my sled and the wife only did 400.Almost wasn't worth spending the $130 for the trail pass for her sled.
I told Shane the other day that some ridin buddies and I are plannin a 6 or 7 day trip to northern ontario in february if any one is interested. Its easy to run 250 to 300 miles a day up there and they ALWAYS get winter:D

MitchStellin 10-11-2002 09:13 AM

I might hit the Grass Drags this weekend. I pulled the sleds out a week ago. The clutches are being rebuilt and the rest is being readied. Hey Rob, want to go or would you rather boat? I could do both, we went out last night looking for KAAMA and he didn't show so we went for a ride anyway. Flat as glass.

Shane 10-11-2002 09:19 AM

Airpacker and Mitch,

Let's keep in touch and do a ride together this winter. Have you guys ever been to Quebec? Some GREAT riding there as well. I would love to ride with you guys. Have fun on your last boat blast this weekend!:D

Audiofn 10-11-2002 09:21 AM

ARE YOU GUYS INSANE!!!!!! I am not winterizing tell the middle of November!!! :D:D We still have yet to get our Indian Summers. :D:D

Jon

Airpacker 10-11-2002 09:38 AM

Jon,my season started in Arpil, yuors started when:D I did 4 oil changes before you even turned your keys:D :D

Shane,ya Quebec is nice but in the last 3 years the trail system in Ontario has been injected with about 25 million govt. bucks for improvements.Ours are way better than theirs now:D and its easier to read the signs:D :D

Shane 10-11-2002 09:46 AM

Airpacker,

REALLY? Coming from Albany, NY how far would you reckon it is to get to where you do most of your riding? Is there anything within a reasonable driving distance?

Airpacker 10-11-2002 11:22 AM

Shane,I did Balston Spa to Toronto in 6.5 hrs in my Mohome last summer. From Toronto to where I usually ride(the Muskoka Sno Region)
www.MSR.com and www.ofsc.on.ca
is 2 hrs and to where the real Northern trails start is another 3 to 4.Our week long trips are usually from hotel to hotel, ride the day, party the night if u can handle small town parties that is.Check a map,we usually start a trip from a town called Kirkland lake, then head north and west to cochrane, hearst, kapaskasing.timins etc.A long loop ride of 1500 to 2000 km(1200 to 1600 miles) in a week. All hotels are pre booked to avoid hassles.Theres several sled deqalers in nearly every town.Fuel is readily accessible and you need it because trail speed is unreal(60 to 100mph).
You gotta ride it to believe it.

bajadude 10-11-2002 11:41 AM

We've got our grass drags on 10/27 - 10/28. If anyone in the area is interested, drop me a PM.
