Can this really be true ????
This matter has been all cleared up. All of the affected parties are happy.
So this was thankfully never a real issue. |
Doesn't seem like a reason to turn down an entry. Money is money and one more boat could be the winning hand.
|
Possibly a lack of docking space????

Could be a number of reason but I would bet anything none of them have to do with a boat being a feature in any boating magazine.

I agree with Nate. Doubt there is a conspiracy afoot.
|
Maybe some nervousness sinking in having "too many" boats in a poker run -- for fear odds are higher for a mishap?
|
Let's hope to hear more from someone that was closer to this incident. I don't think that we need Poker Run wars. If the Devil were to put on a poker run in Ft. Myers I would enter that too, along with entries into the other 2.

To think it has to be due to a boat being in a magazine is very far fetched though. Honestly I don't think anyone gives a damn who's boat is in what article when it comes to that. |
There are all sorts of reasons why this could happen.
Some runs I have done were limited to dock slips or hotel rooms at a facility. Others have a signup deadline to secure a certain number of slips/facilities that can't change. I have also seen egos, attitudes, and poor judgement break up long time members and clubs. I doubt it has to do with just the boat being featured in a different magazine because if that were the case, many of us would be limited to one group or another. When I was in Key West last year, my friend Mike's Skater was the cover of three different magazines. I have been blessed over the years to be covered by "Speed on the Water", "Poker Runs America", "Powerboating in Paradise" (Florida Powerboat Club), "Powerboat" Magazine, "Powerboat Nation", and named NJ Performance Powerboat Club "Boater of the Year" in 2007. |
i believe i was the boat in question regarding this thread. There is absolutely no problems between myself and Stu and the FPL. we spoke again yesterday and we are all good. I have enjoyed running in their events for years and look forward to many more. They put on a great run.

To each his own. These poker runs and boat groups have always been ..... lack of a non profanity term.... not so friendly.
Here is an example. There is a group running up the Chesapeake Bay in a few weeks. Tried to contact them a few times about maybe joining them for part of the way being they will go right past my house. Guess I'm not part of the click being a simple question like what day are you all doing it posted on their thread was ignored and PM's were never answered. Oh well, I'm sure I can find something to do that day being I live here. |

Oh well, I'm sure I can find something to do that day being I live here. I'm not the organizer of the event you are referring to and I'm a little surprised that no one returned your PM's, but that group is hardly a clique and I'm definitely not part of it; I don't live anywhere near there. That being said, there is a small run this Saturday from Chesapeake Beach to the Crazy Tuna. I'm hauling my boat down there from Long Island this weekend to do it for the adventure and change of scenery. The weather is supposed to be nice; why don't you join us. For me, the more the merrier. From my understanding, we're leaving the Chesapeake Beach area (Rod and Reel Marina) around 10:30 am and running to the Eastern Bay through Kent Narrows and then northwest to the Crazy Tuna. This is the route because the bay bridge area is off limits due to a paddle boat event, I believe. If you want any more info, please feel free to PM me. |
