Apache

I admit I was brought up on wooden boats but I've been in 41' Apaches and Cigarette Top Guns the last few years. There has also been a 24'Skater under my belt and I have yet to turn 30. I'm concerned still by the lack of respect by men for women's experience in boating, they disregard it. I can dock an Apache, and have done tons of times, I think I never post here becausee I don't think I fit in

Becca 10-11-2002 10:11 PM

Actually Too Old you are at the root of it. My first post was about Jason Priestly whom now I think should race golf carts. I think you were the first one to slam me. As a result I haven't shared any knowledge I have about several issues

Becca 10-11-2002 10:41 PM

Goiing to bed noww, hope some women share my experience

Ron P 10-11-2002 10:47 PM

Hi Becca, Welcome to the board.

Sometimes people make thier first post after lurking for a while because they finally feel strong enough about an issue to say something. This often gets taken in the wrong way as people don't know who you are and some people have alternative motives.

Share your thoughts and experiences. Now than some girls are racing, thier driving skills are being taken more seriously.

So, who's toys are you playing with?

Tonto 10-12-2002 12:04 AM

Becca
You going to be in Key West this year? You can dock my boat all you want ;) . If it's windy, you can pull straight into the slip because that's exactly what I am going to do. These people that don't give the girls enough credit for what they can do are only little penis boys that feel threatened by you presence. I already have one girl on board that I know I could give the boat to her and not worry about a thing except her husband worrying about what she's doing, not me. I think I might have a REAL famous girl from the board here on the boat for a couple days, but we'll see. Keep your chin up and don't let these people get to you :D
Robert

Becca, don't take anything here personally. It ain't worth it. :)
Most of the "regulars" on the board are great people and say whats on their minds. They may have different views on stuff and disagree with each others opinions, but most don't intend to get personal.
Most of us would love to have S/O's with your boating experience and your opinions are welcome. Heck, I wish I had that much experience.

DanL 10-12-2002 05:42 AM

she tends to get down on herself every now and then,Griff. Beccas a great boater and wears the hell out of a bikini!! 2 years ago at the 1000 Islands Poker Run, she pulled her Top Gun off the trailer and into a slip and had 10 guys grabbing lines for her. Later, when she pulled out of the town harbor, one young Canadian buck said "Thats Pamela Anderson, eh?"

Biggus 10-12-2002 07:37 AM

Hi Becca, seen your posts before. I remember reading some of your posts of handling a TG. My wife also can run the hell out of a boat!

Don`t take anyone on here too seriously,

Kurt.

NASTY HABIT 10-12-2002 07:54 AM

Becca , you fit in perfectly !!! and your know how should serve as an inspiration to the women who may wish to learn things that some may deem a "mans" role. I certainly don't share that belief...and respect what you may have to offer all of us.

boot 10-12-2002 11:54 AM

HI Becca ! Welcome back ! You must be the one that hangs around with that "Dan" guy  I'll bet you can handle the boats fine as many ladies can . I give you a lot of credit for doing it . MAny ladys are intimidated by it . I'll have to get you to give my girl Sandy some pep talk on how to run my 39' express cat. I know she can do it but she is shy about it and is afraid of someone thinking bad of her if she makes a mistake . I told her it's her boat as much as mine and if someone doesn't like it throw them off , YES, IN THE WATER !! She ran my old 40' fromula great as well as the truck and trailer !! Guys are blown away when they see her back the boat down the ramp !!And in one try too !!:D A friend of mine used to keep his boat at Ocean Beach marina in LAvalette . I would say over 50% of the boats there never left the dock AT ALL !! Because the MEN owners couldn't drive em to get back in the slip ! They just went and stayed on them all day like they were cool ........

Anyway , Don't be shy ! Speek your peice . And add some of your experience to the board for those less fortunate !If you are who I think you are you already know me as JOE...... from Flemington ?

Say hi to Dan . Ask him where my muffler is !:p

R Addiction 10-12-2002 12:25 PM

So you're that good with a BIG Apache imagine what you could do with my 25 AT:D . I offer the controls to my wife all the time and she will run it once in a while but she hands it back after a good run. She likes the ride along part much more, and she is an excellent 1st mate. So we keep things as they are and if any emergency arises I know she could handle it. Welcome back take most of what is said on the board with a grain of salt.;) We are a disfunctional family!!!!!

boot 10-14-2002 11:34 AM

In your last post you said you were going to bed , THat was 3 days ago !! Did you wake up yet ??:D

MIdnightRider 10-14-2002 04:17 PM

We are completing negotiations with Wicked Weasel for next years female team apparel!:D Any hotties capable of running the big rig after I have had 15 Goose and Juices is welcome to throw the sticks for me anytime. Stick around Becca, we need the ladies to be involved here.

I actually wish my wife took more a liking to driving the boat some days. I could kick back and relax a bit then :)

Be proud of your acomplishments. Most of the people here are fun and easy (in that order):D We need the women present or it is just a sasage fest:( Chardlie

28SCARAB 10-14-2002 07:18 PM

NICE PICTURE BORDERLINE SUPPLIED. I JUST PUT 2 + 2 TOGETHER. BECCA I KNOW YOU CAN HANDLE THE BOATS WITH NO PROBLEM AND YOU DO BELONG HERE BEING INVOLVED

bajadude 10-14-2002 07:21 PM

where did she go?
BTW, my wife drives and docks our '33 all the time. Does as good a job as I do (don't tell her I said so:D)

Uncle Toys 10-14-2002 07:41 PM

No doubt about it, it’s tougher around here on women than on men. Although it takes a fairly thick skin, the effort will be worth it. Good luck!

Becca 10-14-2002 08:43 PM

Sorry for trying to let this go away, I have told a couple of people that I had a little too much to drink Friday night when I started this. Thank you for kind words although I wish I wasn't the only female here that does this kind of stuff. I just thought that if I kept my mouth shut after it would be page 10 by now and nobody would be the wiser but Joe and Danny and eventually Tom wouldn't let that happen. I came to terms with the fact that I was the only girl in my 5th grade class that knew how to change her lower unit oil, how weird is that? Please don't answer.

NASTY HABIT 10-15-2002 05:35 AM

Looks like Joe , Dan and Tom are not the only ones to keep this going...like it or not i quess some are concerned and should be...and some are not. Just be yoruself and have a good time enjoying the things you like to do ....and if you ever want to talk about riding bikes at 150mph + , shooting guns, collecting knives, welding , riding dirtbikes , working on hot rods or just doing whatever give Nebulous here on the board a shout she's up for anything....if your are not careful she'll be in your boat at WOT

take care Mark

boot 10-15-2002 08:31 AM

Hey there's nothing wrong with changing your own oil ( at ANY age ) !!:D
My girl friend asked for a floor jack for her birth day ! And she had asked if a lift would fit in her garage ! I also just bought her a full set of cordless 18 volt tools for HER new house . She got a miter saw , saw zaw, drill , roto zip , flash light and a huge carrying box on wheels ! How many girls shop for a house and having a seperate garage is their main concern !:D THats my kind of girl ! Let her get all the toys and I can borrow them !
If I could only get her to buy the next boat ........

MIdnightRider 10-15-2002 03:37 PM

If Becca can run an Apache or that Cig, she can run my boat anytime. The speed may take a little getting use to though, My boat is a 90+ Fountain.:D In fact here is a photo of that Cig you were in as I was running by it:D Midnight:cool:

Yeah, what about that partier from the picnic table? Midnight:cool:

DanL 10-15-2002 06:45 PM

Becca is throttling Apache Racing in the APBA Worlds, fellas!!!
BUT.......Tonto may not be the only one sporting a famous personality. There is a hint that one of the most famous throttlemen/boat builders of the modern V bottom may throttle and she would move right one seat. We'll see. And you shoulda seen her this year at the 1000 Islands at 2 am chewing Paul Fiores ear (Hustler founder and Outerlimits) She makes friends quickly. This year at Cape Cod, after the Supercat Hidden Agenda blew a motor, Becca was consoling Jamin Jones, the driver, that at least the crank and block were ok. Chris Caramody, Hidden Agendas throttleman and owner, failed my spelling contest because he thought harrass was two words. Thats another story.

Rico 10-15-2002 06:52 PM

HI BECCA GIRL

let me tell you all something this girl can handle a boat I have seen many times. I would trust her with my boat any day, any cost of boat and any size. Oh and, yes Dan is right she is killer in a bikini, ;) Becca Tell dan Hi and hope to hook up with you guys in the spring after ice fishing . ps you guys that have some serious partys down in the warm states but as you can see we have PIRATES WEEKEND. :D

candyman35 10-15-2002 11:35 PM

Becca,
You probably have a lot more knowledge than a lot of the members here including me. Some of us type things and post them with out rereading what we typed. What was meant isn't always what comes out. If something offends you may want to post a reply asking what was meant. I think 90% of the time poor communication is the reason for people getting upset on the board. I won't comment on the other 10%. ;)

Your comments are just as important as any one else’s on this board. I hope more of the OSO ladies do join in. You are not the only girl on the board doing this stuff. I can think of one who was racing all summer and beating the boys. Others are equal partners with their husbands and boyfriends working on their boats. Share your information. Just because someone isn’t posting on a thread doesn’t mean others are not reading it.

Happy boating, wrenching, waxing etc.,
Dan

eMotiondriver 10-16-2002 07:02 PM

Hey Becca, finally got my office back after painting, I've got
some Red, Red, WHINE do you want some ?

I have to agree Cyndy gets slammed at the boat shows, till they
see her dock a 30 Coastal or a 38 Excaliber.

Talk to ya tomorrow.:p
