What bbq type of tool/equipment to use to flip a boat?
 

You all know about the bbq type of support is used to restore an old car when you want the undercar to be on top!

I want to do the same to a boat. I have my own idea with my 2 forklifts, but i would like to hear from all the glassdave type of guy or boat manufacturer on here what you guys are using?

Lifting the boat is the easy part, but spinning it might be the part where you need the more power, maybe even man power! But even more important is control of the spin!

Any pictures of your secret weapon to flip a 30 feet boat upside down, the right way, with the right tool/,equipment?

Yes rotisserie! But i have done it before on 16-21 feet boat, like in the video above, but 30 feet 6500 lbs, i dont feel like doing it manually with only men power to spin it! Once it start to flip, it really flips!

Does is have to be upside down? Can you do one side at a time by setting one half of the vee down on foam blocks, do your work, then roll it to the other side?

ill see if i can find some pics of a 27 Magnum i just flipped a couple months ago. My trick is to thread/bolt a bow lifting eye/cleat through the transom drain hole giving me a third point on the transom. i usually lay down a few layers of carpet and foam and roll them around on the nose doing most of the lifting in the stern and basically swap chain falls on the bow eye. If i can figure out a way to load it i actually have a time lapse video of us flipping a 28 foot Hydrodyne :cool:

found a couple . . . . helps to have overhead cranes but forklifts will do the same thing. :cool:

One I made to flip the pantera.

I already have the 2 overhead cranes at my house. But flipping it in the straps does not make me feel like i have control over the spinning speed, but your idea glassdave about a third attache point in the drain hole might help! Not sure if the way to spin it on the bow would be the same for me with a cat, having the bow much larger than a v bow...

Vintage, i remember seeing your pictures, thanks for posting them again! It is more likely the way i wish i would do it, but again, having the arm power to flip it from your manual spinning shaft up front must be real tough, even more when it starts to flip, were you really able to control the spin?

C_deezy, i thought about the foam but since it is a cat it would be a little tougher to keep it "on the side"

oops . . . didnt realize it was a cat . . . . well this is the only cat i ever flipped and while it was comparatively quite easy . . . i would not recommend this method :picard1: . . . . :D
