So how long does it take a huge internet forum company to code a "like" button? Maybe they need to hire some russian hackers?? Maybe they are camped out in the basement waiting for Mom to bring them hot pockets before they get started??

Or they own 100s of sites and it's on someone's "to do" list. And we Still working on actual operational bugs as well.
For what it's worth I want the like button back too. Baby steps. You can't induce too much change at one time. Let them work out the core functionality, and then they can bring back the accouterments. |

That makes sense untill you think about it and realize that IB is the McDonalds of Internet forums. Billions served. This forum has the same framework as every other one except we have no pickles while the IB fishing forum has extra ketchup. |
You really want to see frustration you should have seen me when I found out IB nixed the racingjunk app. WTF. LOL

My two cents....
I own a web development company, and know first hand that the need to update code and fix bugs wouldn't mean that the way the site looks and functions needs to suck. The two issues are totally separate, and it's easy to build a solid, functional interface that looks like it's the year 2017 while still modernizing the code and security on the back end. But even though the new interface has a worse approval rating than STDs, I'll still support OSO because of what it means to the industry. As has been sad, Facebook is not a replacement for this forum. The decline of OSO is harmful to the offshore boating world that we all love so much, and trying to have reasonable conversations about anything serious is almost impossible on Facebook. The two aren't apples to apples, as is usually the comparison. So even though I think the new format is terrible (and not because I don't like new things), I'll still intentionally support the forum with my presence. |
Well said ^^^^
waiting for the return of "Likes". |
There's been no upgrade to THT yet, so maybe OSO is IB's petri dish...
FIX THE GODDAMN HOTLINK BUTTON. |

It's pretty obvious that the post count is down, I dont care for this "upgrade" at all and I have seen a few. It is not as visually pleasant as the most recent version.

It went from average to worse. The pop up ads and blinking ads all over the place have become doubled and annoying. Way more of that going on than before.
I have always said this site puts viruses and bogs down at least my computer. I bought a brand new laptop last year and the first thing I did was go straight to this site only and no where else to see what happens to my brand new computer. sure as chit I have had problems with this computer since the day I bought it. Something attaches itself from this site and bogs the hell down out my computers. I have system mechanics for virus protection as well. Worthless |

I still come here for answers and to read w/out the hastle of every Tom, Dickhead, Harry, and Trolls on FB.
IMHO for the most part people here can be very helpful, and this is serious boat Geek territory. I grew up in a very NON performance boat world; the midcoast of Maine had a zero performance boat demographic; its actually here that I got my formal education + Sea Race, the now defunct Performance Boats Mag, and all the Don books.. Anyway I appreciate this place, I've learned a lot here and I hope it sticks around for a long time.. Thanks OSO... |
I'm sure they did it to speed up load times. I run the full version on my tablet which is much more detailed. What's up with the absence of the like button
|
I do like the chick in the solar ad on my post. She has some nice features.
|
The "like button"... IB-Geeks mom didn't bring the hot pockets down to the basement... So it didn't get coded...
|
I got a Victoria Secret bra ad the other day...........Impressive
|
Positive Note
On a positive note - at least the "new posts" and "mark forums read" functions work properly - I don't have to mark forums read, get an error, log out, log back in to clear the unread list!
|
On the brighter side, what ever the Anti-Darr defense system they installed seems to be working so far.......

Im guessing Mr Speedy, you've been sourcing new lingerie recently....! Nice one, RR Edit: Just to illustrate my point, this is the ad that immediately appeared on my screen for this post. Don't worry, I'm not shopping for a Mazda but obviously Thailand adverts feature heavily for me. |
