Saturday on Lake Michigan
Well, I made it out of Holland at 12:30 pm. It was cloudy but, the sun was trying to shine a little. The no wake buoys were gone from Lake Macatawa and the Coast Guard boat was on the trailer so you know the season is about over. The big lake was 1 to 3 when I got out there. Nice predictable waves from the SSW. Was fun to run them on the quarter. I went up and down the shore each way a few miles and then ran out to 90 ft of water, 3 miles from shore. I could not see the pier head. It was too hazy. By the time I came back in the waves were starting to build to 4-6 ft. Still not too bad, they had a nice spacing to them. No other go-fast boats out, just fisherman and blow boats. When I got back to the docks I popped the spark arrester and poured some Marvel Mystery Oil down the carb while at a fast idle to fog the motor. Once I had it pulled out and in the parking lot I pulled the block drains and water hoses. Came home, washed it and put it in the barn. Ready for winter now. Man the season goes fast! It seems like I was just pulling it out for the first time not that long ago. At least I got in one more run. Overall, a good day and a good season.:D :(

Sounds like a good end to the year dude. I am still planning on running till mid november .. maybe get a few runs in.. I have been trying to scatter my motor to end the season, but dammit i can't break it. We ran it 45 minutes at WOT (5400) in the bay and she didn't miss a beat.. So when it gets time I'l yank the mouse and put the boat away..
So how big of a motor you gonna build for next year :D :D :D Travis |
45 minutes at WOT! Man, it sounds like you built one stong SOB there! You need to pass on some tips to Waterfoul.:D
Actually I am just going to put the 502 back in my hog over the winter. I put the old 7.4L back in when I seized a piston back in August. I am looking for a complete used MSD system so I don't have to change the distributor and wires from the 454. Going with a new Holley 800cfm carb, too. See ya, Doug  |
LOL! foul is hopeless
Well sounds like you have plan Doug, Good luck with the motor :) now you can just spend all winter chasing your lady around the house :D :D Travis |
Go with the 850 HOLLEY

Dad has run a 850 holley on his 502 since we built it, no problems with loading up or anything, jets were in the range of 78-80's if i remember right  :D
