Heartbreaking.

I spoke to the investigating Officer last weekend and the initial news reports were WRONG - both boats were moving "at or above" minimum planing speed at the time of collision. He said both boats had lights on with all occupants wearing life jackets. Alcohol factor was not revealed. The mother died a few hours later at the hospital. Now the 10 year old girl has no parents.

Lake Conroe has a flat shoreline and at night all the lights on land resemble boat lights as seen from a distance. It is ludicrous to have these bass-holes hauling azz back to weigh-in even in the middle of the day. But at night? The tournament has backed up the weigh-in 30 minutes but we are losing 1-2 minutes of daylight every night now and it will soon be the same.

The few times I've been on the water at night I've experienced the same thing. Safest night trip I ever made at night was up a river with absolutely NO houses along the shoreline!

....but, how is a bassboater hauling ass to a weigh-in any different than a poker runner "racing" to the next stop. FWIW: I've been involved in both organizations and don't see the difference. Both lend themselves to reckless driving.
