Seawater pump

Think I'm sucking some air somewhere on starboard.. New suction hose and pump 4 days ago. Gets hot at idle. If I start port, get moving then start starboard and get up on plane or faster it stays cool. When I drop of plane temp goes up quick then I kill ignition immediately. I have to idle around on port only. Low water pickups in bottom of bullets only. Back flushed coolers and drives. All clear. When I replaced pump it had a little sign of heat on face of plastic housing. No water leaking in boat. Where can I be leaking air. Any suggestions? Boat is in the water. It would be nice to get this fixed at the dock but I'm thinking if I pull a hose. I'll be swimming. Lol

Yeah old Subject. I'll figure it out.

if you have a new pump and hose, id for sure check for blockage...but just guessing id say the belt is not tight enough and the belt is slipping on the pulley not turning the pump at 100%

what engine is it, v belt drive or serpentine, through hull exhaust ? whats the water flow out the pipes

V belt. It's tight. Someone mentioned that it could be the outer suction hose between the outdrive and and gimbal assembly it could be kinked if it's too long what do you think

What's it due on the garden hose at idle? If its fine you have something in your outdrive or hose going thru the gimble.

Does this application have those check balls and springs in the thermo housing that directs water to exhaust under high pressure? Maybe your balls are wore out. LOL

....seriously, I've read somewhere that worn spring/balls cause water to bypass block at idle. (or did I just dream that??)

Right now all hot water coming from engines exits out through the transom. The exiting engine water is isolated from in coming fresh water. The exhaust manifolds get nothing but cold water. Both engines are set up the same way. Port is perfect. Could the fitting at gimble housing inside the boat be sucking air.? Idling in driveway or in the water is the same result.

Temp is fine when I'm on plane forcing water into out drives
