I've been in 38 Top Guns and 42 Fountains and the 39' ride is very comparable. My boat has more HP than the Merc 525's but that shouldn't make any difference. My boat rides, drives and handles great! I'll be out and about tomorrow for the shootout at LOTO if you'd like a spin over the weekend.
I can't imagine that a 39' Nor-Tech is a poor choice. They are such high quality boats, made for offshore. Not that I've ever ridden in one tho.
I heard they ride like crap. I also heard stu's boat would pound so hard the dash came out. Wonder why they didn't make more of them? i like the 43 and 50 BTW.
I was on a Formula 353 in the Gulf in 3-4s and he ran it so hard the dash popped out too. Wonder if we should start a thread about boats whose dashes pop out
Nuke427 thank you for your offer on the ride but I'm about 18 hours away from you. what kind of power and props are you using in on your 39
Does anyone else out there have any comments??

Another shot prior

I can't take credit for that one. We didn't leave with the masses - pulled in to a watering hole (I think Fish Co??) and waited it out. ...which appears to have been a great idea made by our hosts.
At any rate, this was probably the best time I've ever had on the water - the Shootout will definitely be on our list.

It is hard to believe that lake gets that rough!
It gets really rough in spots... 55mph will keep you ahead of most boats there until the big dogs get loose. Lol
that gotcha now skater flew by me last year on the ride to the 11mm an seemed like it wasnt even trying. Maybe 85mph ? Nothing that weekend came by that smooth and fast. |

I can tell you, they don't ride like crap and my dash is totally intact after a very rough ride home from the LOTO shootout.

That was the roughest its been since the 2012 Shootout when a storm was rolling in at the end of the day. Normally it smooths out somewhat after the first few miles when leaving. It was that rough for at least 15 miles. The problem was once the no wake was lifted at 530, it was go time for EVERYBODY. I've ridden in baywatch's 36 Apache home from the Shootout 6 out of the last 7 years and never gotten even spray of water on us. This year, I think we got sprayed 5-6 times. The water was was about 2 foot bigger than any other Shootout departure.
